Rs = Snow load reduction in psf per degree of slope over 20 degrees.


S = Design Snow Load in pounds per square foot (psf)
Minimum Snow Load is 40 psf

For lower roofs subject to sliding snow from sloped roofs above, the design load shall be determined from the formula
ASCE 7-02, Section 7.9, published by the American Society of Civil Engineers. A copy of this formula is available in
the Building Department office.
