A rental car company wants to investigate whether the type of car rented affect the length of
the rental period. An experiment is run for one week at a particular location, and 12 rental
contract a selected at random for each car type. The results are shown in the following table.

a) Is there evidence to support a claim that the type of car rented affects the length of the
rental contract? Use α=0.05. If so, which type of cars are responsible for the difference?
 Berdasarkan Grouping information menggunakan Tukey Method dengan α=0.05, dari 4
Car Type tidak ada yang berbeda. Masih dalam Grouping A. dan hasil P-value 0,072
adalah > dari nilai α sehingga H0 diterima.

b) Notice that the response variables in this experiment is a count. Should this cause any
potential concerns about the validity of the analysis of variance?
Dikarenakan data observasi yang diperoleh merupakan data yang dapat dihitung, maka
untuk memastikan dan menguatkan argumen terhadap tidak adanya keraguan
terhadap validitas analisis varian maka, data tersebut dibuat dalam bentuk Square Root
(SQRT) dan hasilnya tidak ada perubahan interpretasi terhadap data.

The quality control department of a fabric finishing plant is studying the effect of several
factors on the dyeing of cotton-synthetic cloth used to manufacture men’s shirts. Three
operator, three cycle times and two temperature were selected, and three small specimens
of cloth were dyed under each set of conditions. The finished cloth was compared to a
standard, and numerical score was assigned. The results are as follows. Analyze the data and
draw conclusions.

The Model F-Value 22,25 adalah signifikan.

All three main effects, and the Cycle Time x Temperature, Cycle Time x Operator,
Temperature x Operator, and Cycle Time x Temperature x Operator interactions are
significant at 5% level of significance.

An experiment was performed to improve the yield of a chemical process. Four factors were
selected and two replicates of a completely randomized experiment were run. The results are
shown in the following table.

a) Estimate the factor affects.

Dari estimasi effects diatas, terdapat beberapa hasil yang signifikan berdasarkan nilai
P-value, ketentuannya H0 diterima jika P-value < 0,05 maka model yang signifikan
adalah A, C, D, AB, AD, ABC, ABD, ABCD. Karena faktor B termasuk dalam suatu
interaksi, maka faktor B juga akan ditambahkan ke model dalam langkah berikutnya.
b) Prepare an analysis of variance table and determined which factors are important in
explaining yield.

Faktor dan interaksi yang sama masih berpengaruh seperti yang ditemukan di bagian
A. Faktor B tidak berkontribusi pada model keseluruhan, (yaitu, tidak signifikan secara
statistik pada significance level α=0,05) tetapi telah ditambahkan untuk
mempertahankan effect.
