L-1 INTRODUCTION TO MANAGEMENT

- Management is the process of coordination in the work performance of individuals


working together in organization, so that they could efficiently and effectively accomplish
their chosen aims or goals.

Coordination

The integration of the activities, processes and operations of the organization and
synchronization of efforts.

Efficiency

Character of being efficient or being able to yield the maximum output from a minimum
amount of input.

Effectiveness

Being adapted to produce an effect, or being able to do.

L-2 EVOLUTION OF MANAGEMENT

- The evolution of management thought is a process that started in the early days of
man. It began since the period man saw the need to live in groups. Mighty men were
able to organize the masses, share them into various groups. The sharing was done
accord to the masses' strength, mental capacities, and intelligence.

Industrial Revolution (1760-1840)


Industrial Revolution, in modern history, the process of change from an agrarian and
handicraft economy to one dominated by industry and machine manufacturing. This
process began in Britain in the 18th century and from there spread to other parts of the
world. Although used earlier by French writers, the term Industrial Revolution was first
popularized by the English economic historian Arnold Toynbee (1852–83) to describe
Britain’s economic development from 1760 to 1840.
