Cause of death: Victim of compound poisoning

External Examination: No external marks


found on victim’s body -- no signs of
struggle or foul play. Conclusions lead
to possible poisoning from unknown
substance dissolved in victim’s food

Internal Examination:
Stomach full upon examination. Analysis
of stomach contents show the following:

Lugol’s iodine test for starch: Negative


-- no levels of starch-like substances
found in stomach/intestines
Biuret solution test for protein:
Positive -- high levels of protein found
-- possible chicken or white meat substance
Sudan IV test for lipid:
Negative -- very low levels of fats detected in stomach/intestines
Benedict’s solution test for simple sugars:
Negative -- no levels of simple sugars found in stomach/intestines

Final conclusions: High levels of thallium sulfate found in victim’s blood


analysis. Thallium sulfate possibly combined with a protein to poison
victim.
