According to my opinion, two traits which should be there in leader are:
They have your back during tough times :
Being a leader means you aspire your team and followers to achieve major things but if you don’t support them or take their back in every situation, they won’t be motivated to take risks and make efforts for big achievements. They will be scared rather than being determined that if something wrong happens they have to be answerable which can create trouble for them. So, it is very important to assure the team that their leader will be here to support them even if the things are not good. Time does not remain same, leader should be well prepared regarding such difficulties and should lead from the front when situations get tough rather than hiding behind others to save himself. In order to succeed and move forward, this is the major trait which a leader should possess.
They give credit where credit is due.
A lot of employees get demotivated and stop putting in extra efforts if their hard-work is not recognized. A true leader will be well aware when his team or a particular team member deserves credit and when the credit is given for the task someone has achieved, it motivates that person to do more and more. This will bring motivation for others as well and everyone will strive to achieve more. In this way, people will respect their leader as well as the team will be organized and determined for achieving anything which a leader puts in front of them. They will accept challenges and difficult tasks because they know, no one else can take credit for the hard-work they are doing. Sense of appreciation plays a very vital role in the leadership process.
