Subject:
This NPCB proposal is for the complete revamping & converting the present TT parking area of
the Terminal into a Smart TT Parking area. This includes paver laying of the drive way with
parking slots, developing unutilized area, developing storm water drain around parking area
and Parking bay automation (Parking bay allocation-deallocation and parking area live
monitoring)

Back ground:
Irumpanam Terminal was commissioned in the year 2004. All facilities like office building,
toilets, furniture, storage racks are provided during the commissioning of the Terminal. Though
the Terminal has undergone many modification & augmentations, no major changes happened
for parking area. Currently location is having a fleet size of 400 plus TT’s.

Justification:
The current capacity of the parking area is insufficient & facing following issues in parking area.

1. The current parking area is having an area of approximately 14500 Sqr mtrs. The whole
area is asphalted during the commissioning of the terminal. Irumpanam terminal (most
of the parts in Kerala) is experiencing heavy rain during the monsoon season. Due to this
the asphalting provided is damaged & big gutters are formed in many places. Location is
carrying out periodical patch works on yearly basis to keep the area clean.
2. The truck parking bays are not demarked. Due to these trucks are parked without any
order in the parking area. Security guards posted at parking area is advised to monitor &
correct parking as a daily routine.
3. Due to the non-demarcation & undisciplined parking, the parking area is underutilized.
Additionally, there are few places in the parking area which are not developed. By
providing the proper parking bays in angular format and properly developing the
unutilized area, the capacity of the parking area can be increased from 150 to 280 plus
nos.
4. This haphazard parking of TTs is a safety hazard & needs to be attended on top priority.
Though location is conducted safety talks/ Training, still the infrastructure needs to be
revamped for ensuring safe parking of TTs

Total Cost Estimate : Rs. 355 Lakh (In words: Ruppes three hundred & fifty five
Lakh only)
