In this newsletter, we will introduce the preparation works and monitoring instrumentation prior to blasting works, construction progress of the project and the relevant information. The drill and blast method will be adopted for tunnel excavation, while the open blast method will be adopted for site formation works at Lam Tin Interchange and Tseung Kwan O Portal. Blasting works will commence in the middle of this year tentatively. The blast will last for less than half a minutes. When blasting is carried out, nearby residents may feel a slight vibration and a noise. The slight vibration and noise are normal and would not affect the structural safety of the adjacent structures. Prior to the commencement of blasting works, we will implement stringent monitoring and control measures. Thereafter, a section of cycle track will be narrowed to facilitate the piling works. From late April of 2017, a section of Tong Yin Street in Tseung Kwan O will be temporarily diverted. Adequate signage will be provided on site to inform drivers and pedestrians.
