3 Preparation for Use
3.1 Special Safety Notes

• When carrying out preventive maintenance, maintenance, repair and assembly work on the
rotary windrower always turn off the PTO shaft. Turn off engine and remove ignition key.
Prevent tractor and rotary windrower from accidental movement!
• The maximum driving speed is 540 RPM.
• Actuating equipment such as ropes, cables and hydraulic hoses as well as electric cables must
be installed so that any accidental actuation or contact with the tractor wheels is eliminated. !
• When lifting and lowering ensure no-one is between the tractor and rotary windrower or below
the rotary arms. High injury risk!
• Before starting the PTO shaft make sure that no-one is in the danger area of the rotary
windrower. Accident danger!
• Ensure that the safety equipment is properly installed during operation or while driving on
public roads!
Check lighting function.
• During operation the operator must not leave the tractor!
Instruct other persons to leave the danger area!

Before mounting or removing implements on the three-

point hitch, set the controls so that accidental lifting or
lowering is made impossible!
When mounting or removing implements on or from the
tractor, particular care must be taken!
In the area of the three-point bars there is a danger of
injury by squashing or crushing!

3.2 Preparation at the Tractor

3.2.1 Tractor Lifting Equipment

(Three-Point Hitch)
The windrower is equipped with Cat. II lugs for the three-
point hydraulics.

Tractor draft arms should always be

adjusted so that the lifting points of the
draft arms are at the same height. The draft
arm should be fixed with limiting chains or
bars, so that the machine cannot swing KWT-0-001
sideways during transport or operation.

III - 1
3.3 Mounting the Windrower to the Tractor
During preventive maintenance, maintenance, repair and installation work on the rotary
windrower turn off PTO shaft, turn off engine, remove ignition key. Prevent tractor and rotary
windrower from accidental movement!

The following description is made under

the assumption that the windrower - after
final assembly - is in its transport position.

KS101192

3.3.1 Installing the Tractor Draft Arm

When installing the rotary windrower make
sure that no-one is between the machine
and the tractor.

No-one must be within the slewing area of 3

the rotary arms or in the operating area of
the rotary windrower!

• Connect catches (1) to the windrower draft arms (2) on 2

both sides.
1
• Support windrower on the tractor using the draft arm lug KS102270
(3) and slightly lift it.

• Fold support (1) backwards and fix with bolt (2) and
secure with pin (3).

Make sure that after installing the

3
windrower on the tractor, the beam (4) is 4
horizontal.

1
2
KS102190

III - 2
3.3.2 Hydraulics Connection
The double windrower requires a single-acting and a
double-acting hydraulic connection on the tractor.

When connecting the hydraulic hoses to

the tractor hydraulics relieve all pressures
from the system at either side.

Connection to the double acting control unit:

• (1) blue = - operating width

Connection to the single acting control unit: KS102322

• (2) red = - Lifting / Lowering the rotary arms

When connecting the rapid action

couplings, make sure that they are clean
and dry. Soiling will result in leaks and
damage.

• Connect hydraulic hose (1) to the hydraulic connection

(2) of the tractor.

KS102326

3.3.3 Electrical Connection

The electrical connection is carried out via the lighting plug
(1) and the power supply plug (2).

If neccessary, the permanent power socket

and the holder for the control unit must
first be mounted on the tractor.

KS102323

• Connect lighting plug (1) to the lighting socket of the

tractor.
• Connect plug of the power supply cable (2) to the
permanent power supply socket of the tractor.

When inserting the plug, make sure that

plug and socket are clean and dry. Soiling
and moisture can result in short-circuits!

KS102327

III - 3
3.3.4 Function of the Control Unit Switches
The control unit directly controls or preselects different
functions of the windrower. Generally, the following
applies:

Only one function at a time may be

actuated on the control unit.
The switches of all other functions must be
in neutral position.
To avoid functions being triggered
accidently, the control unit should be
switched off again after use.

The following table explains the function of the individual

switches.

KS100011

III - 4
3.3.5 Connecting the PTO Shaft
When changing the tractor make sure the
PTO shaft is the right length!

• Swing the PTO shaft holder (2) upwards.

• Slide PTO shaft (1) onto PTO end.
• Prevent shaft protection with holding chain from
rotating with the shaft (wide angle at implement).
2
A protective device must be used on the
tractor and the machine.
Only the PTO shaft supplied may be used. 1 KS102328

3.3.6 Length Adjustment

During preventive maintenance,
maintenance, repair and installation work
on the rotary windrower the PTO must be 1
turned off. Turn off engine. Remove
ignition key. Prevent tractor and windrower
from accidental movement!

• Pull the PTO shaft apart.

• Plug one half each (1) and (2) onto the tractor and the 2
machine. (The wide angle coupling must be
mounted on the implement. Observe marking of
the PTO shaft.)
• Move the rotary windrower into a position where the
KS-0-017
length of the articulated shaft is shortest (driving
straight).
• For further instructions on how to proceed please see
the operating instructions of the articulated shaft
manufacturer.

Check slew range and clearance of the

universal joint! Contact with the PTO shaft
by the tractor or implement will result in
damage (e.g. towing device, mounting
frame).

4 Handling the Windrower
During Use

4.1 Mounting on the Tractor

When mounting the rotary windrower, make
sure that no-one is between machine and
tractor.
No-one may be in the slew area of the
rotating arms and the operating area of the
rotary windrower!

As described in section 3.3 support the windrower with the

tractor and couple and secure it to the PTO.

4.2 Overload Protection

The rotary windrower is protected from overload by a star
ratchet coupling. These star ratchet couplings (1) are
located on the lateral extension arms towards the lateral 1
angular gears.

During cases of overload, they produce a graunching

noise. They then transfer the applied torque in pulses.
To avoid premature wear to the overload protection, turn
off PTO when the star ratchets are triggered due to
overload.

The overload protection must not be KS101030

modified. The warranty is null and void, if
an overload protection different to the one
provided by the factory is used!

IV - 1
4.3 Changing from Transport to
Operating Position

5 Basic Settings
The basic settings should be carried out on
a level surface.

Keep clear from the moving rotor! Before

turning on the PTO, make sure that no-one
can be caught by the rotor.
With the PTO running the rotary arms must
only be raised up to before the stops.

5.1 Height of the Tractor Draw Bars

The height of the tractor draw bars must be adjusted so
that the draw bar lugs (1) are at a height of

H approx. 66 cm

above the ground. Secure draw bars at this height. H 1

KS102110

5.2 Setting the Operating Depth -

Electrical
2
The operating depth is adjusted through an electric motor
(2), which is activated by the control unit.

Initially, the operating depth should be set so that the tine

tips slightly touch the ground.
This setting may need to be corrected during operation.
For this the following applies:
If set too high, the fodder is not completely collected.
If set too low, there is the danger of soiled fodder, damage
to the sward and higher wear of the double coil tines.
KS102132

Switch 3 = Left rotor

Switch 4 = Right rotor

• Switch on control unit.

Pressing the switch > upwards = Raise rotor
Pressing the switch > downwards = Lower rotor

The operating depth should be set during

operation.

• After the depth has been set, switch off control unit!

Do not operate both switches

simultaneously! KS100011

V-1
5.3 Setting the Operating Depth -
Mechanic
The operating depth is set by means of the crank handles
1
(1), located on the left- and right-hand swather disk arm.

Initially the operating depth should be set so that the tine

points just contact the ground. If necessary this setting
must be corrected during use.

Note the following:

When the setting is too high the feed will not be
completely harvested.
When the setting is too low there is a risk that the feed will
be soiled, the greensward may be damaged and increased KS-0-089
wear of the twin-spring tines.

5.4 Setting the Operating Width

Electrical / Mechanic
Before completely lowering the rotor arms
into operating position extend rotary arms
to the stop.
1
Never perform the working width setting
while the tractor is standing and the tines
have contact with the ground.

• Apply pressure to the double-acting control hydraulic

(1) and slowly extend or retract the rotor.

KS102324

The operating width of the rotor arms

should be adjusted during operation.

2
x
Distance of the rotors to the swath former:

a lot of fodder = large distance

little fodder = small distance

The driving speeds depends on the pattern achieved = 1

clean raking with good swath forming.

During operation the rotor arms (1) must be

extended by at least X = 5 cm from the
inner wing (2).
KS103070

V-2
5.5 Setting the Curved Path
The curved path is set using the adjusting lever (1).

Before setting, the linch pin securing the adjusting lever in

the hole segment must be removed. By lifting the
adjusting lever slightly the level can be adjusted in the
hole segment.
1

The rotor on the right-hand side is adjusted

the same way as the left-hand side.
KS102070

• Remove linch pin (1) under the adjusting lever (2).

Lift adjusting lever (2) and turn inwards = tine arms are 2
lifted out later (e.g. swath turning/narrow swaths)

Lift adjusting lever (2) and turn outwards = tine arms are
lifted out earlier (e.g. wide swaths)

• After setting, secure the adjusting lever (2) with linch

pin (1). 1

KS102080

5.6 Tilt Adjustment of the Rotor

Chassis
To achive optimum work results, the tilt of the rotor can be
modified. To do this U-washers are located on the running
wheel bearings, which can optionally be mounted under or
over the running wheel bearing.

With heavy fodder set the chassis on the

inside as low as possible!

• Remove linch pin (1).

• Remove distance bushes from position (2) and add to

1
position (3) or vice versa.

• Reinsert linch pin (1).

2

KS102060

V-3
5.7 Driving Speed and PTO Speed
The driving speed and the PTO speed depends on:

- the fodder quantity,

- the ground and
- the degree of dryness.

As a rule of thumb the following assumption can be made:

• PTO speed approx. 450 RPM

• Driving speed approx. 6 - 8 km/h

PTO speed and driving speed must be adapted to the

individual operating conditions.

5.8 Ground Adjustment of the Ro-

tors
1
The constant ground pressure of the rotor running gears
located across the direction of travel can be adjusted by
setting the ring bolts (1).

• Loosen hexagon head screws (2). 2

More ground pressure on the outer wheels of the
running gear
1
• Tighten hexagon head screws (2).
More ground pressure on the inner wheels of the
running gear. KS102040

5.9 Adjusting the Direction of Travel

The direction of travel of the rear running gear can be
adjusted by adjusting the suspension arm (1).
2
• Loosen counter-nut (2).

• Adjust suspension arm. 1

• Tighten counter-nut (2).
