Hi Ms.

Howard,

Mrs. Whitley Harris, Stephen H mom, sent me this message on Class Dojo.

Good Morning Mrs. Dobbins. Trey is attending to the best of his ability and I am right here with him.
Please refrain from calling his entire name in such a manner that admonishes and shames him in fro
nt of the entire class.
Especially since you have not called any other student's name in such a manner when they commit
minor infractions or don't mute/unmute quickly. Thank you.

This is my response.
Oh I am so sorry! I learned his name as Stephen and am trying to remember to call him Trey. It was
not my intention to upset either of you but especially him. Thank you for letting me know. Through ou
t the year, I will call other students by their full names.
This is something I have done for years to help students learn their full names. I am sorry that today I
didn't do it with anyone else.

Ms. Howard, it was not my intention to make Stephen feel as though I had shamed him in front
of his classmates. Calling a child by their full name is something I do throughout the year as Mrs.
Thomas can attest. Mrs. Thomas was my IA for five years. She was on screen when this
happened.
