Students will create sentences on what we do in the winter.
Students will create their own snowman on the computer and fill in the sentences.
With 90% accuracy students will be able to read their cloze sentences and point out the words that needed
capitalization.
Students will complete a worksheet, I saw, I heard, I tasted, I touched, I smelled.

MATERIALS AND RESOURCES Incorporates multimedia & resources beyond the textbook.

PowerPoint is used for teaching the main part of the lesson.


The internet will be used for game and practicing the cloze sentences.

Group/Partner work will be done with PowerPoint. Individual work will be done on the internet, and worksheet. The
PowerPoint will help students with that are visual learners, and the internet will help students that are tactile
learners.

When do we see snow? What do we do in the winter? What are snowmen made of? Winter is a season that always
comes at the end of the year and goes into the beginning of the year.

Step-by-Step Procedures-Lesson Sequence: Basic to Complex. Lesson includes


visuals, modeling, logical sequencing and segmenting (beginning, middle, ending);
INSTRUCTIONAL PROCEDURES essential information; concise communication; grouping strategies; differentiated
instructional strategies to provide intervention & extension; seamless routines;
varied instructional strategies; key concepts & ideas highlighted regularly.

Before computer use:


1. The students will listen to the lesson while following along with the PowerPoint.
2. The students will work in groups to do the activities from the PowerPoint. Students at each table will work
together to pick out pictures that represents winter.
3. The students will watch a short video on YouTube the Cat in the Hat- A long winter’s nap.

During computer use. 


1. Students will individually participate in creating their online Snowman.

2. Students then will place the image within their document and complete the text.

After computer use:

1. The students will return to their tables to participate in an assessment from the PowerPoint about their
snowmen.
2. The students will complete an exit ticket consisting of reading their cloze sentences about their snowman.

Winter is a season that in many places brings snow and cold weather. In the winter we wear warm cloths,
drinks hot chocolate, and sometimes play in snow. Winter is the season that comes before spring. In the
winter we can create snowmen if we have snow or build bonfires. Students, today you will participate in
some fun writing activities as a group and create a collage of what winter looks like. After that we will all get
to have individual time on the computer to create our own snowman. There will be an assessment from the
PowerPoint to take as a class. And then we will finish with an exit ticket.

The grouping will be determined by the assigned seating at each table. These groups with take turns using the
computers while other groups work on their collages.

A detailed rubric will be developed to assess:


Group Participation from the activities in the PowerPoint
Following directions on each activity
Exit ticket answers from the online game
Assessments from the cloze sentences from the PowerPoint

CLOSURE Reflection/Wrap Up. Summarizing, reminding, reflecting, restarting, connecting.

Closing:
1. After individual time on the computer there will be a discussion from the PowerPoint on everyone’s
snowman.
2. The class with review what they have learned about winter.
3. Complete exit ticket by each group show what their collages look like.
