Personal Protective Gadgets

The Following personal Protective gadgets are to be provided and used by all personel.

a. Safety Helmet For Head Protection

All Personel will be issued with safety helmet, which shall be required to be worn at
any time in the construction site. Safety helmets shall be checked periodically of sign
of wear or any damage. Old ones shall be discarded and replaced with the new one.

b. Working Glove For Hand protective

Specified working gloves shall be used by personal involved in works which are
exposed to the following hazards :
i) Risk of abrasion
ii) Risk of cutting
iii) Risk of tearing
iv) Risk of burn or chemical
v) Risk of infection

The wearing of gloves shall be avoided, as far as practical when worker approaches to
a rotating or moving object.

c. Safety Footwear for Foot Protection

Suitable safety footwear shall be worn by personel involved in works which are
exposed to the following hazards :

i) Risk of crushing by heave object


ii) Risk of penetration by sharp objects
iii) Risk of penetration by chemical or harmful/liquids
iv) Risk from hot objects
v) Risk from electric shock
vi) Muddy or flooded work area

d. Ear Plug for ear protection

Suitable ear protection shall be worn by personel working in areas of high noise level
or when using tools or equipment that generate high noise level.
i) External cup type which fits over the ears shall be worn to higher noise level
ii) Internal plug type usually made of compressible foam and fits inside the ears may
be worn to lower noise level
iii) Equipment generating high noise levels shall be equipped with sound muffler and
be located far enough not to disturb works.

e. Eye Goggles for eye protection

Suitable eye protection shall be worn by personel involved in works which are
exposed to the following hazards :
i) Radiation glare
ii) Hot sparks or metal spatter
iii) Dust ingress
iv) Flying particles
v) Chemical splash
vi) Harmful vapors

For welding works proper welding helmet with specified dark glasses shall be used.
Scratched or fogged glasses shall be replaced with new one.

f. Respirators for breathing protection

Appropriate respirators shall be worn by personnel working in olen or confined areas


with airborne gasses and contaminants such as dust, fume, mist and poisonous gases
i) Air purifying respirators such as : dust foe and chemical cartridge respirator
ii) Air supllied respirators such as : supplied air breathing apparatus and self
contained breathings apparatus.

g. Safety belt for fall protection

Safety belt shall be worn by personnel working at elevated level higher than 2.0
meters above ground or above water, where proper elevated platforms are not
available or not practical.
