Given the hotel’s required personnel skills, what recruiting sources would you have suggested it
use and why?
There are several recruiting sources which can be used by the hotel to reach out to the desirable
applicants. These are:
 Company website- This is the most suitable platform for posting all the job
opportunities. On the company website, the hotel can post not only job openings but also
FAQ’s about working at the company, for example, the benefits offered and anything that
gives the company a boost or competitive advantage. A detailed information can be
placed on the website and therefore people interested in it are likely to know more and
more and can easily see whether they can adapt to the rules and regulations of the firm
and most importantly evaluate whether their skill and qualification level match to the
required level.
 Social Media- We all are familiar with apps like LinkedIn, Google+, Facebook, Twitter,
among others and know how much effective these are in recruiting desirable candidates.
Nowadays most candidates more or less use these networks, for which it will easily grab
their attention .Moreover social media is not just for posting jobs; it is much significant
than what we think. It’s a platform where the hotel can promote the company’s brand and
contribute insightful information about it which might be attractive to the potential
candidates. Once a foundation is built with the followers, they are likely to directly
approach the company when looking for a job.
 Agency- Based on the hotel’s needs, it might take the help of a recruiting agency. Hiring
recruiting agencies can be cost-effective for finding desirable candidates from larger pool
of talents. However when considering the services of a recruiting agency, the hotel
should conduct a cost benefit analysis which is important to compare both the pros and
cons of recruiting an agency. If the pros exceed the cost only then agency should be hired
otherwise it will not be cost effective.
 Newspapers- Although it’s a traditional method of recruiting employees, print job ads
are still helpful and playing an effective role in the recruiting scene, especially
considering the papers’ online presence. Depending on the job and the industry, more of
the candidates the hotel is looking are likely to rely on print job ads when searching for
openings. Most importantly it is going to reach a large pool of audience, so the larger the
audience the higher is the chance of attracting desirable candidates.

Understanding what recruiting sources are applicable for the hotel is very important for the human
resource manager and they have to ensure how to make the most of it so that the desire of talent
acquisition is maximized. All the sources should be evaluated and after that the final decision should be
taken based on the current situation and needs of the hotel.
