Preparation and Development of Language Learning

What is being taught should be perceived by learners as relevant and


useful.

Language learning materials are made to organize and identify the


different essential lessons that must be tackled about in a certain area of
discussion. The contents of it expose the things that must be learned from the
smallest details into the most significant ones. It is expected to produce a
timeline in order for the teachers to know when to meticulously move on from
the other lesson and to make the student acquire the needed information one
by one. One of the things that must be considered when making a language
learning materials is its content, these materials are expected to help the
discussions go smoothly both for the teachers and the learners. The learning
materials that will be used in a certain study must be relevant, it would be a
waste of time to use a material that is not relevant to the specific language
that is being taught. Both the students and the teachers will fail to achieve
their goals, the teachers to prove that they are effectively doing their job, and
the learners to successfully learn a new language. Aside from it, the materials
are made to easily pave way for the acquisition of different languages, if it fails
to become useful in the discussions, might as well disregard it and find new
ones that are really relevant and useful instead of using the learning materials
that do not serve their purpose. Irrelevance of learning materials used in a
certain area would definitely question the competency and effectiveness of
the teacher who decided to use an irrelevant and futile materials in the
discussions. The flow of the lessons between the aspirant speakers of a
certain language and the teachers who serve as the facilitator lies also on the
materials that are being used. The things that must be included in the
discussion must be purposeful and effective for the students’ development.

Materials should maximize learning potentials by encouraging


intellectual, aesthetic and emotional involvement which stimulate both
right and left brain.

A human’s brain must always be stimulated both the right and left side of
it. Through making use of a person’s capability and making it use of a
practice, a person’s potentials get enhance into its maximum capabilities. The
more it is being practiced, the more it improves. One of the principle that a
language learning material must possess is to stimulate both right and left
brain of the learners. These learning materials must present different activities
that are relevant with the discussions with the exertion of such activities that
could trigger one’s intellect and emotions. Since a person learns different
things by getting themselves involved in different events and circumstances, it
would be easier for them to obtain the given information and lessons that will
lead them to fully understand the discussions. Involvement of intellectual,
aesthetic and emotions is also one of a great way to retain significant things
that are necessary in learning the targeted language. Application of what is
being taught and what is being learned also makes the brain to become
stimulated. It maximizes what a certain person can do to its full potential and
discovers his or her limit. One’s learning potentials can be continually
improved and used by exposing his or herself in different scenarios, it may be
something that is unpleasing or even pleasing ones. It is important to maintain
the balance in learning a language ‘cause the intellectual capability makes it
possible for a person to learn and achieve the goal to become a speaker of a
certain language as well as to be capable of reading it with of course
comprehension and critical analysis. On the other hand, a speaker of different
languages must know how to appropriately pronounce and put the emotions
with the words she or he has to say, if the emotions were not practiced
appropriately, there is a chance of being misunderstood by the way how the
emotions were applied in the way how the words are being uttered or
pronounced.

Materials should help learners to develop confidence

Learning a new language is not that easy, a person might feel


discomfort while trying to make a use of a certain language that he or she
is not used to speaking as he / she grew up. There will always be
discouragements everywhere that sometimes leads a person to be filled
with doubt and uncertainties whether to continue with the plans of being a
speaker of languages that are not native for him / her. One of the standard
of a language learning material is not only to develop one’s capability to
speak, understand and comprehend the learned languages but also to
enhance one’s confidence and to boost one’s self esteem. Lack of
confidence might affect a speaker’s ability to use the targeted language
effectively as it will definitely bring dismay and will put him or her in a
situation where (s)he would be bothered by using the language
anymore.The learning language materials must put every students in a
situation where they would be ready to be facing and talking to other
people with the use of the learned language. It must help them grow and
enhance themselves most especially when it comes to communicating
with people belonged to other races. The confidence of a speaker
excludes the barrier that will possibly affect the communication between
the sender and the receiver. The confidence of the learners will be
developed when they are being exposed to the different interactive
activities that a learning material may offer. It helps them to confidently
speak a non native language without such difficulties, all the hard works
will be seen in the way how a speaker uses imported languages when she
or he is able to stand boosted with self esteem. A learning material
enables an aspirant speaker to become confident with using it.

The learners attention should be drawn to linguistic features of the


input.
Learning language materials must always present its reliability as it is the
tools that are being used in the discussion for certain lessons and most
especially when it comes to the acquisition of languages. It should be
grammatical error free, in order for the learners not to have any questions
towards the materials that are being used. Some mistakes in a learning
material might let the students perceive it as undependable and unreliable.
Most especially when it comes to dealing with learning different languages.
Having to use a material that has language competencies also makes it easier
for the learners to learn faster and completely understand the different rules
and properties in the languages that are being taught. It would let them
understand the materials itself and the context of every topics provided.
According to studies, a person’s environment enhances his or her capabilities
in a certain field depending on what he or she is being exposed to, it will make
him or her adjusted and will eventually adapt the certain environment he or
she is currently living with. The students enrolled in the acquisition of different
languages will be able to improve themselves by getting involved in the
different usage of a certain language that is being taught. Involvement of real
life events and experiences also plays a big part in the process of learning
languages. It would be a great of help if the learning language materials
encourages the learners to make themselves available in the authentic use of
those languages as much as possible everyday, in order for the processed
information to retain on their minds until it becomes included in their
intellectual knowledge. This principle mainly focuses on the content of the
learning materials and how it was made and produced. It examines the
correct usage of grammars in order for it to become useful for the students.

Materials should take into account that learners differ in affective


attitudes.

Affective attitudes is one way of a person to deal with certain events and
circumstances. Emotions are the focus here, how an emotion arises
whenever somebody is put in a situation where she or he is not used to deal
with. When it comes to the acquisition of language, some learners are prone
to being filled with negative emotions such as doubt, fear, sadness,
discouragements and other things that would hinder them from successfully
acquiring the targeted language. It is one way of expressing themselves
towards the process of learning. These emotions might impact them
negatively when not handled properly, this might lead them to be eaten by
anxiety instead of developing their confidence and self esteem. Learning
language materials must take into account the different attitudes that every
learners might feel, it must present them how to become aware and mindful
with their own emotions. Every teachers must be considerate of the students
attitudes towards the discussion, it must not be neglected as it may cause
anxiety and could possibly disinterest them to continue learning. The
interactions between the students and the teachers also gets affected
whenever the attitudes were not identified and solved earlier, it would be hard
to create a collaborative discussion. One of the disadvantages of a person’s
negative attitudes and emotions is that, it causes to bring distraction and
damage in one’s whole well being. Having to feel petrified, discomforted and
discouraged when learning something new is just normal, it is a natural action
and reaction of a person taking a path in a new environment, but unable to
overcome these along the journey is not acceptable. The teachers together
with their partners, learning materials have to fulfill their responsibilities for
their learners. Every students who would feel that they are in the process of
self enhancement, would be so eager to help themselves as well.
