2.6 AHB (Active Hydraulic Booster)
1) System overview
Conventional vehicles run by gasoline or diesel have a braking system that brake booster
using engine's vacuum status to maximize the power. However, HEV cannot earn braking
Power because it only uses the power of drive motor during EV mode driving. Accordingly, it
uses system called AHB (Active Hydraulic Booster) to collect pressure from the motor and
accumulator

‘AHB consist of PSU and IBAU. PSU creates the hydraulic pressure necessary for braking, and
this enables the wheel brake and caliper to output braking force. iBAU can perform hydraulic
control as well as ECS function. Also it performs Regenerative braking cooperative control.
Initial AHB (Gen1) is different form current(Gen3) system,
ithad HPU, BAU and ESC module,
‘The biggest difference is that ESC function was
‘separately performed by ESC module as the general
cars.

braking cooperative control
* BAU (Brake Actuation Unit)
= Control hydraulic pressure control. generate pedal effort.
'" ESC module : ESC function such as ABS, TCS, etc.
