Pop music

Pop music is a contemporary genre of music that derives from


popular music. The term doesn’t refer specifically to a single genre in
fact it may include elements of rock, hip hop, reggae and dance music
because it was born in the 1920s-1950s when all these genres were
already affirmed. Pop music can be distinguished from other
subgenres by stylistic traits such as a danceable beat, short melodies
and a repeating structure which is often criticized for being overly
simple and in contrast to other forms of music that require years to
master. Only 10 year after pop music was originally formed, it
became extremely popular around the world.

Pop music has been influenced by many other genres including:


Gospel, Soul Music, Jazz, Country and Rock. The use of vocal
techniques comes from soul and gospel music. Instrumentation from
Jazz ,Country and Rock. The tempo from dance music and rhythmic
elements from Hip Hop music.

The main instruments used in this genre is Electric Guitar, Drums,


Bass, Keyboard, Piano and Vocals.

The purpose of his genre is to grasp the attention of the audience.


Instead of worrying about meaningful lyrics they worry about having
an upbeat and fast rhythm that people will enjoy. This genre is mostly
targeted for younger audiences like ourselves. This music is supposed
to keep us energetic and to give us a feeling of wanting to dance.

Some of the most well known names in history include: Michael


Jackson, ABBA, The Rolling Stones, Ariana Grande, Selena Gomez,
Justin Bieber, Beyonce etc.
