1. Q: Describe the situation in your own words when a giant looking man entered Mr.
Dursley’s cabin?
Harry has reached the most significant milestone in his life thus far. Hagrid's arrival on that
day not only liberates Harry from his miserable existence, it has given him knowledge about
himself that, though he may have realized later, he never had imagined before. He is also
empowered to stand up against the abusive Dursleys forever altering their relationship, from
here on, his life will never be the same. Now Harry is empowered to make choices that will
determine his destiny. He alone decides whether to stay with the Dursleys or attend
Hogwarts, leaving behind the world where he felt he never belonged.
2. Q: Give a detail of the information the giant gives about Harry?
Giant knew Harry by recognizing the eyes. Hagrid reveals to Harry that his parents inhabited
a separate world, where they were famous, and that Harry's famous too. Mr. Dursley tries to
keep Hagrid from saying any more, but of course it doesn't work. Hagrid's even angrier when
he finds out that the Dursleys never gave Harry the letter Dumbledore left with him.
3. Q: Where Harry has come from and where he has to go?
Hagrid’s arrival initiates an enormous shift in Harry’s life. Not only does Hagrid go on to
reveal Harry’s magical abilities, but more than that, he cares deeply about Harry, and this
provides Harry with the first real sense of love he’s ever had. This highlights once again how,
because Harry’s family does not provide him with love, he is forced to look for it in other
places. Hagrid’s big revelation allows Harry to be initiated into the magical world, from
which Vernon and Petunia had been trying desperately to keep him away from. Hagrid
represents the possibility of finding a place in the world where Harry feels he truly belongs
and magic parallels the excitement that Harry feels in trying to find that place.
