Visuals and Data

Ex. 3, p. 18

Italian: “Good design is the way of life”. Likes both slides but the first one is more preferable as "it
has a lot of power". Use of black and panoramic photograph. Makes a key point – look, the market
for 3D eyewear is going to be huge.

Dutch: First slide tries to get your attention – and it does, but do not go further. Dutch like to see
detailed data or figures - the second slide gives more information.

Swedish: Details are always a good idea but a good design is also crucial. The second slide has too
many bullet points and too many words per line. It’s not convenient to read and listen at the same
time. The first slide gives you an idea of what the speech is going to be about – it's the advantage.

Japanese: Simple design is the best choice – the first slide does this. For foreigners, it’s hard to
understand mostly oral presentation, so some visual data will help them – points for the second
slide. Slides need to be convenient for the audience, not the speaker.

Ex. 6, p. 19

a. He pulled it out of an office envelope and showed MacBook Air to the audience.
b. He saw a brain scientist brought the human brain on stage.
c. He presented it with two 3D holographic co-presenters.
d. Jobs used the small pocket on jeans as if it had been designed for the iPod Nano.

r - implications
Too much text per point (the 666 rule is on vacation), lack of taste (or time)
regarding the design, pointless graphical accompaniment

Good-looking design, no more than 6 words per point (and no more than 6
points), pleasant colour palette was used for layout and it matches the photo
material attached, header of the slide has the power
Boring design spoils the student’s mood in expectation of the game, also the
formulation “lesson quiz” sets everyone for the routine format of work.

Bright colours are able to wake everyone up, unusual design puts in mind of
virtual gameplay, the whole setting aims for the competition and fun time
with profit for the brain and marks
Two headers per slide – it’s too much. Font size can strain the eyesight. Too
much words in every box. It’s hard to say pleasant words about design in
general

Sharp and strong line contains all the necessary information. Every point
appears in sequence during the speech, which does not destruct the
attention of audience
