Slide 1

Borobudur is one of historical buildings in Indonesia. Borobudur temple is a temple which

became a pride of Indonesian people because it is ever been included into the 7 wonders of the
world. This temple is located in Borobudur village, Magelang, Central of Java, Indonesia. It was
found as a place of worship for the Mahayana Buddhist by sailendra dynasty in 800 AD. It was
discovered by sir Thomas Stanford raffles in 1814. At that time, it was found crushed and buried
in the ground. It is considered to be the world’s largest Buddhist temple for its size 15.129 m2
and height 34.5 m. Not only it became a well known tourism destination to a lot of travelers
around the world, Borobudur temple is also included in UNESCO list of world heritage site.

There is a dome located on the top center of the temple and us surrounded by 72 buddha statues,
each seated inside a perforated stupa. It is said that, if you place your hand into the stupa through
one of its hole and you can touch the Buddha statue, you will be able to make one of your dream
come true.

The lion statue in Borobudur temple we can find at the entrance of the temple that serves to
guard the temple from all harm.

There are so many relief on Borobudur’s wall which total is about 1.460 panels. These reliefs tell
about ancient stories written in Sanskrit language and read by mapradakisana way.
