Reflection from Pak Nil Video: A Beautiful Wisdom from Covid-19

When I watched the video, I felt touching because the first thing that crossed my mind
was about grieving and the potential to be trauma among patients and families of patients of
Covid-19. Loss of family members, and also no chance to visit or maybe participate actively in
the funeral of the patient. This situation can certainly add to the suffering many times over. Both
patients who are undergoing treatment, as well as those who are recovering, and who have lost
family members, need psychological support and mental health monitoring. It aims to help them
re-adapt to life during mourning and after the Covid-19 pandemic ends. Traumatic counseling is
an important approach for this time. During the mourning period, clients need their own time, but
we need to make sure someone is there to accompany them if they need to share their feelings.

Seeing Pak Nil approaching his partners in showing his support, I realize that
interviewing skills are very important to help clients through their trauma. Interviewing and
delivering support which has therapeutic values, requires skills that do need to be learned and are
often practiced. This returns me to my memory in last semester that we need to hear a lot to
understand a lot. Dive in and understand feelings not just words.

In the last, I found another issue about showing and sharing identity to the public. In Pak
Nil's video, he recorded and sharing information and he mentioned that all the activities were
known by the family of the patient. He also a close friend with the patient, so it might not bring
up an issue that violates the ethics of "protecting privacy". However, we also need to be careful
about this. Many cases were initially deemed not to violate privacy rights, or not disturb the
patient's comfort. However, the internet with the breadth of its reach can trigger a public
reaction, including the worst such as stigma. Therefore, disclosure of identity to the public by
mentioning a real name, other matters that are to privacy, need to be avoided and carefully
guarded. The video might be deleted again. But if it is viral and widely circulated it can be
downloaded by many people, and difficult to prevent its spread. Wisdom and prudence need to
be run as well as possible.
