In 2013 London became the most popular tourists destination and with finest
museums, theatres and galleries in the world. However, things were not always so
great for the UK’s capital city.
Many changes have been made in London since 900. The population grew, with
this increased pollution of the city. Also, London suffered many fires in its early
years. The city grew, in spite of the cramped conditions became the biggest city in
England. But the number of problems grew with the city and London became a
pretty disgusting place in which to live.
The absence of a sewerage system had a rather bad effect on the city. The streets
were full of rotten food and dead animals. As for Londoner, they rarely washed or
changed their clothes, the resulting stink have been truly overpowering.
Muckrakers were hired to save the city. As result of this situation there were
persistent outbreaks of plague were so many people dead. After these global
problems, cities have introduced hygiene and safety laws.
