Adjustment of the Brake As a safety precaution, the adjustment of the brake (item 1.2 to 1.5) has to be performed prior to the suspension of the car and the counterweight. 4.1 Checking of the Brake Magnet After shutting-off the installation, open the terminal box of the magnet and check whether the RD-component (resistor-diode) has been mounted. Attention: a) The resistance of the RO-component is dependent on the voltage of the magnet coil. Therefore, it is important to check whether the Ident No., i.e. the resistance is correct (also refer to Instruction No. J 116 100). b) When mounting the RD-component, take care of the correct polarity! The red wire must be connected to the positive pole of the magnet terminal. Eye bolt. This is achieved when the ball at the end of the magnet core is flush with the magnet casing (Fig. 2). b) Care must be taken that the axis of the magnet and of the eye bolt are bath horizontal. The flanges of the fark-shaped end of the magnet axis are to be positioned vertically. The eye bolt is to be tightened with both adjusting nuts. Ball flush with the magnet casing (brake applied) Core flush with the magnet ama casing (brake applied) Correct adjustment Re-adjustment required 1.4 Adjustment of the Brake Movement Stoppers a) Turn the stopper nuts so far, while the brake is applied, that a play of 1 to 2 (mm) is ensured between the stopper nut and the lever (Fig. 1). b) Release the electrical brake end set the lift machine in mation. Shift one of the brake levers toward the brake drum by means of the stopper nuts and then shift the other brake lever in the same way, until the brake lining slightly grazes the brake drum. Then turn back the stopper nuts slightly until the brake drum can move freely. ¢] Counter-lock the stopper nuts. d) Check the brake adjustment by actuating the brake severel times. (Set the machine in motion in both directions) After this procedure shut-off the installation again. Re-Adjustment_of the Brake When re-adjusting the brake, adjust the brake spring, the magnet stroke, both the brake movement stoppers and the brake contact with reference to item 1. A re-adjustment is requi a) After the first 50 to 100 travels with new brake Linings. (Fitting the Linings to the brake drum). Oo b) In the case of levelling inaccuracies af the car, resp. the emergency stop travel is too long. Important: If with the brake applied the magnet core becomes flush with the magnet casing, i.e. the plate behind the ball is flush with the magnet casing (Fig. 3 shows limit of admissible position). d) If the noise of the applying breke becames too strong. (Too large a distance of the brake movement stoppers causes a stronger impact noise). 3. Replacement of the Brake Shoes If the thicknass of the upper part of the brake linings is approx. 1 (nm), the brake shoes shall be exchanged. i a] Place the counterweight on the buffers whereby the car is empty. b) Detach the linkage and the magnet from the brake shoes. c] Remove the nuts and the securing ring (dia. 18 (mm)) from the brake shoe axle and press out the axle, d) Re-assemble 4 the reverse sequence.
