History is the past happening in the world.

2. What is the important role does history take in the study of Philippine as follows.

SOCIAL- Although the term “social studies” includes primarily history, geography, civics, economics, and
sociology, it also deals with materials from other subjects. Thus some elements of ethics, psychology,
philosophy, anthropology, art, literature, and other subjects are included in various courses in the social
studies.

CULTURE - Cultural history brings to life a past time and place. In this search, cultural historians study
beliefs and ideas, much as intellectual historians. These are reflected in the products of deliberately
artistic culture, but also include the objects and experiences of everyday life, such as clothing or cuisine.

IDENTITY - History helps one to understand the immense complexity of our world and therefore enables
one to cope with the problems and possibilities of the present and future. History provides us with a
sense of identity. People need to develop a sense of their collective past. Events in the past have made
us what we are today.

DEVELOPMENT - The idea of development did not begin or end with children. The idea of development
in children arose from a set of older ideas about natural and human history. Evolutionary history
(phylogeny), individual development (ontogeny), and social change (history) all illustrated and revealed
development.
