We have had the pleasure of collaborating with Shirkat Gah in the past. Currently under the Global Affairs Canada, Feminist Leadership for Accountability and Political Rights (FEMPOWER Pakistan), ‘Simorgh and Shirkat Gah have worked together to develop a training module on gender sensitization for media practitioners and establish an alliance between women councilors, community women and men and media personnel along with intensive engagement with community based organizations around women’s participation in the public sphere. We hope to further work with Shirkat Gah on advocating for gender equal laws, policies and budgets as well as community outreach, Working with Shirkat Gah, we observed their dedication, commitment to time, clear understanding and knowledge of the issues women face within their families and communities, ability to network with civil society and government officials, nationally and transnationally as well as capacity for synthesizing across issues and types of institutions especially during emergency situations such as earthquake in 2005, floods in 2011 and COVID-19 in 2020. We are confident that they will be able to carry out any activities and projects transparently and efficiently.
