Announcements
About Announcements
The Announcements feature in Our World allows a teacher to create and send an
announcement to all students in his/her class or a private message to an individual
student.

Accessing Announcements
1. Choose “Announcements” from the Teacher homepage.

Creating an announcement
1. Choose “Create New Announcement”.

2. Type in the announcement title and message. Then select the students to receive
the announcement. Choose “private” if message is for one specific student. “Post”
announcement when finished.

View and Delete Announcement

1. Choose “View” to preview the announcement. The announcement will appear
on the Student homepage.
2. Choose “Delete” to delete the announcement.

3. The student will see the announcement posted in the “Announcements” section
on the Student homepage.

Class Management
About Class Management
The Class Management feature in Our World allows the teacher to see the students in
his/her class along with some specific information about each student.
Accessing Class Management
1. Choose “Class Management” from the Teacher homepage.

2. Choose “View Details” to see the student’s profile, login information, and a list of
the student’s subscriptions.

3. The teacher can print or change student passwords.

Grade Book
About Grade Book
The Grade Book feature in Our World allows the teacher to see class and student
reports for each level, unit, and activity.
Navigation
1. Choose Grade Book from Teacher homepage.

Activities at a Glance Report
2. The first report in the Grade Book is called the “Activities at a Glance Report”.
This report contains information for the entire class, including “Activity Name”,
“Number of Students Accessed”, and “Average Time Spent” on each activity.
“Start and End Dates”, “Level”, and “Unit” can also be chosen.

3. Choose an “Activity” to see a detailed report on each student.

4. The next report is called the “Students at a Glance Report”. This report contains
activity information for multiple students, including “Accessed” and Time Spent”
information for each activity. Choose “Student Name” to see student information.

5. The “Student at a Glance Report” also contains activity information for an

individual student, including “Activity Name”, “Accessed”, and “Time Spent”
information for each activity in a unit. “Start and End Dates”, “Level”, and “Unit”
information can also be chosen.

My Vocabulary Notebook
About My Vocabulary Notebook
My Vocabulary Notebook allows students and teachers to create a personal
dictionary. Both teacher and student can enter words they know or would like to learn
more about, decide how well they know the word, and gather more information about
the word to increase their understanding over time.

Accessing My Vocabulary Notebook

1. My Vocabulary Notebook can be launched from the Teacher homepage.

Navigation
My Vocabulary Notebook contains a blank word list. Words appear as they are
added.

Adding a word
Word entry form
1. To add a word, open My Vocabulary Notebook.
2. Choose “Add word” or type the word in the “Type in the new word” field.
3. Choose how well the word is known.
4. Choose “Save” to save the word and close notebook. Choose “Save and Add
Another” to save the word and continue adding more words.

Definitions page
Go to the definitions page to add the definition(s) after a word is added.
1. Choose a word.
2. Choose “Write Definition” and define the word.
3. Enter the definition in the text box and click “Save”.

Word details
1. Choose a word.
2. Choose “Add more information”.
3. The word, the definition, and the last date the word was viewed and edited
appear.

Resource Directory
About the Resource Directory
The Resource Directory enables teachers to browse both student and teacher
resources and provides teachers with a means to preview and download media.
Navigation
1. The Resource Directory can be launched from the Teacher homepage.

2. Resources are available for each unit and level of Our World. Choose a unit folder
to see all of the resources available for each unit.

3. Resources are grouped together. Choose a resource to view or download it.

4. Click the Download button.

5. A new window opens. If the resource is a PDF, the file will open in a new browser
window. From the top browser menu, choose “File”, then “Save As…”
6. If the resource is an audio file, the track appears and can be played or
downloaded.

Student Activities
About the Student Activities
The Student Activities provide a fun and interactive learning experience. The Activities
focus on Vocabulary, Grammar, and Reading.

Accessing the Student Activities

The Activities can be launched from the Teacher homepage.

Navigation
Complete the following steps from the Teacher homepage:

1. Choose the book level in “Student Activities”. Teachers with access to more
than one level of Our World choose a level.
2. Choose a unit.
3. Choose an activity.
4. Choose “Help” (?) to see how the game is played.
5. Choose “Back” to return to units.
6. Choose “Home” to return to Teacher homepage.
