“You shall be called repairers of the breach” found in

Isaiah 58 is this year’s theme for One Great Hour of Sharing. Sharing
God’s love with neighbors-in-need around the world by providing re-
lief from natural disasters, food for the hungry, and support for the
poor and oppressed.
Around the world, millions of people lack access to sustainable food
sources, clean water, sanitation, education, and opportunity. Each gift
to One Great Hour of Sharing helps to improve the lives of people in
these challenging situations and reflect the call of Isaiah to become re-
pairs of the breach.
The church is happening right now, all around us — because we share
Christ’s love.
We will receive the One Great Hour of Sharing offering on the first
Sunday we return to worship together.

On Saturday. March 27. The Deacons met at the church to

gather up and deliver a flower basket and candy to the “wise
men and women” of our church in order to wish them a
Happy Easter.
The day was sun shiny and warm, and best of all, we got to see them in person and actually visit.
I’m writing this the night of the delivery and have already heard from 3 of the Deacons recount-
ing how great the visits were. Oh, my, how we have missed that.
As time passes, we’ll see how wonderful it will be when we can all be together. It will be our
family reunion.
We planned what we would like to do. And God made it extra special for all of us. And we are
grateful.
Blessings, Kay

CHRISTIAN EDUCATION REPORT - Cheryl Moles, Christian Educator

Sunday Morning Childcare is now available each week for children age 3 years and younger. Our at-
tendants are on duty from 10:15 to the end of the service. They do a health check when they arrive. Par-
ents need to sign a form on the first day of returning stating that you understand our health guidelines and
that it is best for children showing any symptoms of illness (other than allergies) to not attend. Sanitation
procedures are in place for the room and toys. Welcome to our new attendant, Madi Halls that begins
April 11.
At home Sunday School lessons are available on the Church Family at Central Presbyterian Church Fa-
cebook Group or by email.
Children's Worship now meets every Sunday. Children ages 4 years to 1st graders are welcome to
leave the sanctuary with Mrs. Moles following the Children's Moment to attend an age appropriate wor-
ship. Children will remain seated with their families during the Children's Moment. Parents will determine if
their child(ren) attend. Children's Worship will be in the lounge, room 200. The furniture is rearranged to
allow more space for distancing. Masks will be required. Parents need to pick up their child(ren) from the
lounge or the CW group will try to meet parents in the 2nd floor ramp hallway. Children will not be taken
downstairs.
The Children’s Activity Bags (younger kids) and Children’s Worship Activity Bags (older elemen-
tary kids) are in the sanctuary. The contents of each bag should be cleaned up, items placed in the bags as
found, and returned to the box at the back of the sanctuary.
Beige bags are for children ages 1st grade and younger.
Colored bags are for the 2nd grade and older kids that participate in worship; these have a child’s name
on them. Please be respectful of other’s property by not taking someone else’s worship bag. The
bags have been restocked with paper and crayons. At a point where supplies are needed, please
see Mrs. Moles and do not take items from other bags. There are bags marked for guests so please
show hospitality by handing one to a guest in 2nd – 5th grade.
Sunday Morning Coffee Fellowship by Zoom from 9:30 - 10:00 am. We can see each other's
smiling (morning) faces and check in with each other before worship. The Zoom link will be sent on Satur-
day. (We will not meet on Easter.)

On Sunday, March 21st, I went to Walmart to purchase snacks to

put into backpacks for 118 children at Deming Elementary.
These bags were given out for spring break to help provide ex-
tra food to these children in need during the week off over
spring break. Principal Ashlee Tanoos and Laura Steele, the PTO
president, helped with this project.
Back in the winter months, with the Pandemic was still very
much over our heads, our Presbytery of Ohio Valley granted
funds to any church with a proposal to aid their communities.
Our Presbytery Executive, Susan McGhee, told us if our church
wrote a grant we would almost certainly receive the money. We did get $2,000.00. Added to money
that Kids Hope already had, we used a substantial amount for the Backpack program. We will use the
rest later this spring to help give t-shirts to every child at Deming as their going away present, in
memory of their school that will close this summer. We may even have money left to help with an end
of the school event or more food for the neediest students.
I asked a few Walmart employees to help locate snacks in bulk. I explained what I was trying to accom-
plish. Their response was immediate, friendly, and helpful. By the grace of God Erica and Candice led
me every step of the way. Erica knew just what items would work best since her children, now in high
school, had used the Backpack program when they were in elementary school! She recalled the types of
foods that children would like. God is SO Good!
As I quickly filled up carts, employees took them to the customer service for safekeeping until I
checked out. We ended up with 5 extra-full carts. At the end, I had another friendly, and efficient
threesome. One was the checkout worker Kenneth, and the other two were baggers Mason and Brad.
Kenneth had a break coming but wanted to help take the carts to the door and load the cars! Two oth-
er gals, Kydaisha and Jay, helped with this. They actually had me bring my car to the front of the store
while they brought the carts to the sidewalk. Meanwhile, I called Mike to come with his car. I knew it
would take two vehicles for all the items! I had fantastic assistance from so many employees at
Walmart! There were others too who played supporting roles. Once again, God is SO GOOD!
Mike and I drove to the church to unpack all the bags. While emptying the items into the Fellowship
Hall, Tim Ghogle came over to set up for his Passion Movie Night and helped us.
There are two other jewels I would like to recognize, Mary Horneker and Donna Garrison. They re-
lentlessly worked far longer than I thought it would take to sort the food into grocery bags. And by the
way, Baesler Market generously gave us bags to use for this project!
I think I have thought of everyone who helped me along the way! It definitely “takes a village” to make
something great happen!
