Morning has broken, like the first morning

Blackbird has spoken, like the first bird
Praise for the singing, praise for the morning
Praise for them springing, fresh from the world

Sweet the rain’s new fall, sunlight from heaven

Like the first dew fall, on the first grass
Praise for the sweetness, of the wet garden
Sprung in completeness where his feet pass

GEORGE WILDLIFE PARK
The George Wildlife Park, which opened in 1965, is the home of many species of animals
and birds. Some are in cages, but many are not. You will see not only all your favourite
Australian creature, but also many exotic species.

The 14 acre area of the park is home to some 50 species of animals and 160 species of
birds.

In the wildlife you can find many kiosks of food, drink, ice cream, coffee and of course
peanuts and biscuits for the animals and children to enjoy. You can also buy a wide range of
quality souvenirs. The most interesting thing is that you can hold and cuddle koalas, the famous
animals that can only be found in Australia.

A TRIP TO SNOW MOUNTAINS

When my family was living in Sydney, we used to go to a place called Snow Mountains
because Sydney never has snow in winter. Well, the weather can get very, very cold, and the
temperature could go as minus 5 degree Celsius, but it never snows. That was the reason why we
like going to Snow Mountains.
Our trip to Snow Mountains was very exciting. We went with a group of foreign students
from different parts of the word. We went by bus to Canberra and then we went up to the
mountain. And, believe me, we need to be an expert driver because the road was rough and wet.
We had to go very slowly and cautiously. Luckily, our driver was a real professional. He did a
great job taking us to the mountain, but I saw many good cars sliding off the road. The police
were made busy by those accidents, but the police seemed to have anticipated the situations. They
had all kinds of equipment to help the poor cars.
When we reach the resort area, a nice warm meal was waiting in a nice warm dining
room. It was a relief. Then we had to hire the “Snow-Mountain Gear” like caps, scarves, thick
jackets, and snow boots. We simply had to do that or we would have been freezing to death. I felt
really big and fat in that outfit and I had to learn how to walk in snow.

Many years ago, there lived a hermit in a forest in Sumatra. He didn’t grow food but
depended on jungle fruit to survive. Soon, there was a drought and all plants and fruit trees in the
jungle died.
The old man had nothing to eat now, so he turn to begging. He went to a nearby village
trying to get some food. At first, the villagers were happy to help him. However, when he came
continually, they refused to give him anymore food. They told him to grow his own food.
One day, while the hermit was sitting in his hut, sad and hungry, he began to think about
growing his own food. Just then, a boatman stopped by, and taking pity on the hermit, give him
some paddy seeds.
Before the boatman went away, he said, “These seed will grow and give you ever tasting
harvest if you work very hard. If you are tired of the work the paddy plants will turn into weeds.”
The old hermit worked hard to clear the land and sowed the seeds before the rains came.
Strangely, after a short of time, the paddy was ready for harvesting. The old man got a lot of rice
from the harvest. After each harvest, the plants grew back again right away. When the villagers
heard about the hermit and his wonderful paddy, they flocked to his paddy-field and took home as
much paddy as they could.
One day, the hermit became so tired of harvesting the paddy that he shouted, “Oh, stop
growing, you wretched thing!” As soon as he had said this, the paddy plants turned into weeds.

Before we are going to smoking, it is better to look at the fact. About 50 thousand people die
every year in Britain as direct result of smoking. This is seven times as many as die in road
accidents. Nearly a quarter of smoker die because of diseases caused by smoking.
Ninety percent of lung cancers are caused by smoking. If we smoke five cigarettes a day we
are six times more likely to die of lung cancer than a non-smoker. If we smoke twenty cigarettes a
day, the risk is nineteen greater. Ninety five percent of people who suffer of bronchitis are people
who are smoking. Smokers are two and half time more likely to die of heart disease than non-
smoker.
Additionally, children of smoker are more likely to develop bronchitis and pneumonia. In
one hour in smoky room, non-smoker breathes as much as substance causing cancer as if he had
smoked fifteen cigarettes.
Smoking is really good for tobacco companies because they do make much money from
smoking habit. Smoking however is not good for everybody else.

GEYSER

A geyser is the result of underground water under the combined conditions of high
temperatures and increased pressure beneath the surface of the earth.
Since the temperature rises approximately 1◦ F for every sixty feet under the earth’s
surface, and pressure increases with depth, water that seeps down in cracks and fissures it
reaches very hot ricks in the earth’ interior becomes heated to temperature in excess of 290◦ F.
Because of the greater pressure, it shoots out of the surface in the form of steam and hot water.
The result is a geyser. In order to function, then, geyser must have a source of heat, reservoir
where water can be stored until the temperature rises to an unstable point, an opening through
which the hot water and steam can escape and underground channels for re-supplying water after
an eruption.
Favorable conditions for geyser exists in regions of the world: New Zealand, Iceland, and
the Yellowstone National Park area of the United States. The most famous geyser in the world is
Old Faithful in Yellow Park. Old Faithful erupts almost every hour, raising to a height of 125 to
170 feet and expelling more than ten thousand gallons during each eruption.

An earthquake is the result of a sudden release of energy in the Earth's crust that creates seismic
waves. At the Earth's surface, earthquakes manifest themselves by vibration, shaking and
sometimes displacement of the ground. The vibrations may vary in magnitude. Earthquakes are
caused mostly by slippage within geological faults, but also by other events such as volcanic
activity, landslides, mine blasts, and nuclear tests. The underground point of origin of the
earthquake is called the focus. The point directly above the focus on the surface is called the
epicenter. Earthquakes by themselves rarely kill people or wildlife. It is usually the secondary
events that they trigger, such as building collapse, fires, tsunamis (seismic sea waves) and
volcanoes, that are actually the human disaster. Many of these could possibly be avoided by
better construction, safety systems, early warning and evacuation planning
