Abstract
Characterization is a method or the technique that author uses to create or develop a
character according to what the author wants. The meaning of characterization is also
the author wants to introduce or show the character to the readers to know more about
the character’s personality. By analyzing the characters, we can understand the
human characters in everyday life. Therefore, researchers are interested in analyzing
the characters in '' Dinewan the emu and goomblegubbon the bustard” Australian
folktale. The problems of this study are: (1) What are the characteristics in Dinewan
the emu (2) what are the characteristics in goomblegubbon the bustard” (3) how both
the dinewan emu and the goomblegubbon could get lessons based on their
characteristics” The researcher took one short stories to analyze. This study used a
descriptive qualitative method to analyze and interpret the research object. The step to
obtain the data was collecting sources of the data. After that, the researcher selected
data and made conclusion. The results of this research are related about the character.
The researcher expects this research will be useful for other researchers who are eager
to know more about characters.
