When a shopaholic starts hiding their purchases like a alcoholic, they star lying to their
family or friends about how much they have spent, and when they feel depressed or
upset they just go and start buying unnecessary things.
This is a brain thing, the brain starts releasing chemicals such as endorphin and
dopamine, this make the person feel pleasure buying, and this becomes
uncontrollable.
3. What are some consequences of shopaholism?
Lie to the family and friends about their purchases, going into debt, going shopping
instead of taking care on the responsibilities, work, etc.
Feeling depressed or upset, this makes people think that their problem will disappear
purchasing items.
When I go shopping, I can´t resist the temptation to buy something; I just can´t come
home empty-handed.
I go shopping for an item I need, but I lose control and come home with a lot of things I
don’t need.
I spend more that I should in order to get more expensive designer names and labels.
I can´t pass up a good sale. Even if I don’t need anything. I just have to indulge myself
and buy something.
I don’t have the patience to wait a day before buying something. If I want it, I buy it on
the spot.
