SUMMARY, CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS

This chapter provides forms of reference for students and future researchers

through findings, conclusions, and recommendations.

This study determine the perceptions of STEM students in Sta. Cruz Academy of

Lubao Inc. on Factors Affecting the Academic Performance in Mathematics.

Summary:

The following are the salient findings of the study:

1. As for grade level, it was found out that 72 or 55% student-participants were

from grade 11 and 59 or 45% student- participants were from grade 12.

2. With regard to the age of student- participants, it was found out that 5 or 3.8%

were 15 years old, sixty-two or 47.3% were 16 years old, 53 0r 40.5% were 17 years old,

10 or 7.6% are 18 years old, and only 1 or 0.8% is 20 years old.

3. As for gender of participants, it was found out that 69 or 52.67% were male

and 62 or 47.3% were female.

4. As regard with the extent of interest in Mathematics as perceived by the

students, it was found out that student were often interested in Mathematics.

5. With regard to the extent of study habits as perceived by the students, it was

found out that students were often studying in Mathematics.

6. As for the extent of teachers’ personality traits as perceived by students, it was

found out that teachers were always have good personality traits towards students.

7. With regard to the extent of teaching skills as perceived by the students, it was

found out that Mathematics teachers were often good in teaching STEM students.

8. As regard with the extent of instructional materials used by the mathematics

teachers, it was found out that teachers were often used instructional materials.

9. With regard to the level of performance of students in Mathematics, it was

found out that the mean performance of students in Mathematics was ―very

satisfactory.

10. There is low degree positive relationship between students-related factors and

students’ Mathematics performance.

11. There is no relationship between teachers-related factors and students’

academic performance in Mathematics.

Conclusions:

In light of the above findings, the following conclusions were drawn:

1. The participants who participated in the study are mostly Grade 11.

2. Most of the respondents were 16 years old.

3. Most of the participants were male.

4. Most of the participants wanted to get good grades on tests, quizzes,

assignments and projects.

5. Most of the participants were study harder to improve their performance when

the get low grades.

6. Most of the participants observed that their Mathematics teachers have a good

relationship with the teachers and students.

7. Most of the participants observed that their Mathematics teacher was

organized in presenting subject matters by systematically following course outline.

8. Most of the participants observed that their Mathematics teacher used

whiteboard in explaining the lessons.

9. Students’ level of performance in Mathematics were very satisfactory.

Recommendations:

On the ground of the findings and conclusions of this study, the following are

hereby recommended.

1. A parallel study should be conducted.

2. Students must continue to desire getting good grades on tests, quizzes,

assignments and projects.

3. Students must study hard to improve their grades in Mathematics.

4. Teachers should build a good relationship between teachers and students.

5. Teachers must be organized in presenting the subject matters by

systematically following the course outline.

6. Teacher should use whiteboard in explaining the lessons.
