Most of us have seen or heard of the Promethean boards often used in classrooms.

These are
incredibly interactive pieces of equipment that allow teachers and students to collaborate and
create work on a single whiteboard, canvas, word document, or presentation. The tool that I
would use in my classroom to be of great assistance would be the small remote that coincides
with the Promethean board, the ActivExpressions. These devices come in a variety of forms, but
the one I would see myself using would ultimately be the ActivExpression 2. This comes with a
full keyboard allowing students to spell out words and equations for live submission on the
board. This feature makes taking surveys, asking questions, and taking attendance easier than
having to use paper for every assignment, which leads me into discussing a scenario where I
could use this in a high school physical education class.

Although most of what I would do in a physical education class has to do with actual movement
and activity, there will be times where sitting down to review information is needed. By using an
ActivExpression, I can provide a small quiz at the end of the semester over information we
covered. Each student will take a remote at the beginning of the class and go to a seat in the
room. Upon arrival, there will be a ten question quiz for each student to take posted on the
Promethean board. The responses to the quiz will be given in the form of being able to type your
own answer. This way students cannot cheat off of one another and write the same words. Giving
them the devices also allows for me to not waste paper by giving everyone a typed up exam.
Following the completion of the quiz, the student can put their device away and return to their
seat until everyone is finished. There is no accessibility to cheat through this method.
