NARRATIVE REPORT ON THE GLOBAL HANDWASHING DAY

CELEBRATION

Global Handwashing Day is a way to support and promote the importance of

keeping our hands clean to avoid getting sick and spreading germs to others. As well as
raising awareness especially to school children about the importance of handwashing
with soap as an effective and affordable way to prevent diseases.

In this regard, Milan Elementary School celebrates Global Handwashing Day this
October 16, 2017 with the theme “Our Hands, Our Future”, reminding us that
handwashing protects our own health, but also allows us to build our own futures, as
well as those of our communities, and the world.

After the flag ceremony, the school conducted a short orientation to explained
and help the pupils understand the importance of Global Handwashing Day, headed by
Mr. Joseph Vallite, the grade six adviser. Then, it was followed by a proper
demonstration on how to wash our hands correctly following the 8 steps of proper
handwashing. Each adviser helped and assisted their advisory class in following the
steps. The teacher also integrated the importance of global handwashing day in their
lessons.

At exactly 9:15 a.m. we began our handwashing activity of each grade level
(before recess), and handwashing activity (after recess). The teachers assisted and
made sure that each pupil were doing the handwashing activity correctly. Each pupil
observed and followed the proper steps of handwashing. Milan Elementary School
successfully implemented the Global Handwashing Day.
