OVERVIEW
In this lesson I will be emphasizing more shadow and edge mapping as well as starting to get into
calligraphy and stylization. This essentially is similar to your own personal handwriting or ultimately
how your work will look authentically you. This is still a very short amount of time, so delicate value
work should be put on hold until we get into an hour or more of time.

ASSIGNMENT: 10-MINUTE QUICK SKETCHES–MALE

In this session, we will add 5 minutes to your time limit. Try to venture a bit further into your edge
manipulation but refrain from heavy value work. The emphasis should be on simplification, efficiency
of thought process, and quick analyzation skills.

Part 1: Watch the video tutorial.

Part 2: Browse through the handouts. Print them or use your iPad or similar.

Part 3: Try copying my interpretation first as with the 5-minute poses. Then try them again from the
photos.

Part 4: After completing, you can also use some of the reference for the 5-minute poses and any other
time segment.

Note: I have provided you with a plethora of great photo reference, so feel free to use it for other
exercises in this phase as well as others. Good luck and keep pushing play.
