I am applying for the special education position in the Aberdeen School District. I am beyond
excited to apply because of the experience I have gained within this district during college. The
Aberdeen School District can benefit from my teaching education and previous classroom
experience. I have developed esencial teaching strategies and philosophies that can benefit the
special education program in Aberdeen. I am exceptional in the areas of communication,
patience, collaboration and determination.

I am currently completing my education at Northern State University. I will be graduating with

degrees in special education and elementary education with a minor in reading and coaching
endorsement. Through my education at Northern I have excelled in many courses that have built
me to be an effective educator. I have taken courses pertaining to special education law, leading
transition programs, managing disruptive behavior and classroom management. I have also taken
general education courses to understand how to effectively teach general classes such as math,
reading, social studies and science.

Through my education at Northern State University I also completed two field experiences along
with two semesters of student teaching. During my Junior field experience I participated in the
alternative program that allowed me to complete my hours acting as a substitute teacher in the
Aberdeen school district. This was a beneficial experience because I was able to experience
many different grade levels and school environments. I was able to actively utilize the strategies
and techniques I learned at Northern independently. I learned how to benefit all students despite
their educational levels in the general education and special education classroom settings.

I am excited and grateful for the opportunity to be considered for the special education position
