To Whom It May Concern:

My name is Michele R. Dale-Cannaert. I am currently a 4th grade teacher at Lakes Elementary

School in the Hartland Consolidated School District. I have had the opportunity to work with Jessica S
Engstrom since the fall of 2019. She has had an opportunity to come into my classroom to make a
variety of observations for her classwork at Ferris State University.

Jessica has had a chance to observe all three 4th grade classrooms during her time with us. She
has been fortunate to see how a team of teachers can truly work together for the benefit of all the
students. Jessica has been able to observe the Lakes Elementary 4th grade team complete variety of
instructional lessons and activities, in all content areas. The elementary staff at Hartland Consolidated
Schools uses the workshop model for student instruction in all content areas. Jessica has participated in
large group and small guided practice group instruction models.

Throughout her time at Lakes Elementary School, Jessica has shown a mature professional
attitude when working with the students. She was confident in her ability to help instruct students; this
showed through in her interactions with the students. She was flexible and willing to participate in any
activities with the students. Jessica was always willing to try whatever new tasks I asked of her. She was
respectful and cognizant of the needs of each student. Our 4th graders truly enjoyed having Mrs.
Engstrom visit our classes. We were all looking forward to having her come and “teach a lesson” for the
4th graders. In light of the recent State of Michigan, Stay at Home Order, Jessica was unable to complete
this task. I am sure that, if she had, we would have enjoyed her lesson immensely.

It was truly a pleasure getting to know Jessica, as well as have her be a part of our 4th grade
classes this year. She has what it takes to become an excellent educator.

Sincerely,

Michele R. Dale Cannaert
