Question 1)

a) H0: The average spending of male and female beneficiaries is same.

H1: The average spending of male and female beneficiaries is different.

b)

c) If the p or sig value of the assume test statistics is greater than the alpha 5 % then the null hypothesis
will be accepted which means that the average spending of male and female beneficiaries are same.

d) If the null hypothesis is false and the test supports the results and the result is accepted then it is a
type II error.

Question 2)

b) The input variables used in chi square testing must be nominal and categorical.
c) H0: There is no relationship between the prices provided by the broad band data providers.
H1: There is relationship between the prices provided by the broad band data providers.
d) As the chi square value is very less and the sig value at 4 degrees of freedom is .980 (98%) which
is more than the level of significance of 5% reveals that the test is not significant and hence null
hypothesis is accepted.
e) The table reveals that the null hypothesis will be accepted.

Question 3)

a) The valid N (listwise) is less than the total cases because of the missing values as valid N
(listwise) presents the non-missing values.
b) The highest difference observed in the third variable (Horsepower) because of the higher
differential between the maximum and minimum values, mean, standard deviation, variance.
c) Though both the standard deviation and variance provides the information regarding the data
distribution but I will prefer standard deviation as it provides more clear information regarding
the deviation of data from a mean and also it is expressed in unit terms.
