SHORT QUESTION
1. What Is Tawhid?
Tawhid in Arabic means attributing Oneness to Allah and describing Him as being
One and Unique, with no partner or peer in His Essence and Attributes. The Arabs
say waahid, ahad and waheed, all meaning one. Allaah is Waahid, meaning that He
has no rivals or peers in any way. So Tawheed means knowing Allaah is One, with
none like unto Him.
With regard to the shar’i definition of Tawheed, it means believing in Allaah alone
as God and Lord and attributing to Him alone all the attributes of Lordship and
divinity.
Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):
1. “Say (O Muhammad): He is Allaah, (the) One [Ahad].
2. Allaah-us-Samad [Allaah — the Self-Sufficient Master, Whom all creatures
need, (He neither eats nor drinks)].
3. He begets not, nor was He begotten.
4. And there is none co-equal or comparable unto Him”
[Quran 112:1-3]
It should be noted that the scholars have divided Tawheed into three categories,
as follows:
Tawheed al-Ruboobiyyah (Oneness of Divine Lordship): means believing in Allaah
as One and Unique with regard to His actions such as creation, sovereignty,
control, giving life and death, and so on.
Tawheed al-Uloohiyyah means devoting all acts of worship, both inward and
outward, in word and deed, to Allaah Alone, and not worshipping anything or anyone
other than Allaah, no matter who he is.
Tawheed al-Asma’ wa’l-Sifaat (Oneness of the Divine Names and Attributes),
this means affirming the names and attributes of Allaah and believing that there
is none like unto Allaah in His names and attributes.
2. Meaning of Salah
In Arabic, the literal meaning of the word Salat is Dua’ (invocation – an appeal to
a higher power for help). The sharai’ meaning of Salat is to perform a formal
worship towards Allah, at least five times a day.
Allah say in Qur’an:
And establish prayer and give Zakah and bow with those who bow [in worship
and obedience].
Quran 2:43
It is important to note that the word “establish” implies it is not enough to just
to say the prayer and perform the actions that are required in Salat, but Muslims
are also required be mentally present while performing Salat and are to observe
all the prescribed conditions (Farz, Wajib, Mustahub).
3. What Is Hajj
The word Hajj, linguistically, means intention of heading to a place for the sake
of visiting; in Islamic terminology, it implies heading to Makkah to observe the
rituals of pilgrimage as they were observed by Prophet Mohammad PBUH in
specific dress (Ihraam) at specific place (Makkah) and at specific time (month of
zil-Hajj)
Hajj is obligated by Allah upon every Muslim, male and female, who is physically
and financially capable. It is obligatory only once during the lifetime of a Muslim.
Allah Almighty Says (what means):
“…And [due] to Allah from the people is a pilgrimage to the House – for whoever
is able to find thereto a way….”
[Quran 3:97]
4. Nisab of Zakat
In Sharia (Islamic Law) Nisab is the minimum amount of wealth owned by an
individual for one year that obligates the individual to pay Zakat. This minimum
amount of wealth is separately defined for each category of wealth.
Gold: 7.5 Tola
Silver: 52.5 Tola
Wealth: Same as Silver
If one is Sahib-e-Nisaab, he has to offer zakat of 2.5% his wealth.
5. Masarif-E-Zakat
Allah Says:
“As-Sadaqaat (here it means Zakat) are only for the Fuqaraa’ (poor), and
Al‑Masaakeen (the poor) and those employed to collect (the funds); and to
attract the hearts of those who have been inclined (towards Islam); and to free
the captives; and for those in debt; and for Allah’s Cause (i.e. for Mujaahidoon —
those fighting in a holy battle), and for the wayfarer (a traveller who is cut off
from everything); a duty imposed by Allah. And Allah is All-Knower, All-Wise”
[Quran 9:60]
According to the above ayat, zakat can only be paid to/for following:
Fuqara’ (the poor) - all those people who depend on others for the necessities of
life. The Arabic word fuqara is a general word for all those who are needy
because of some physical defects, or old age, or temporarily out of living means,
and can become self-supporting if they are helped like orphans, widows, the
unemployed, etc.
Masakeen (the needy) - those indigent people who are in greater distress than
the needy people usually are. The Prophet (peace be upon him) especially
enjoined the Muslims to help such people as are unable to find the necessary
means to satisfy their wants and are in very straitened circumstances, but are
so self-respecting that they would not beg for anything, nor would others judge
from their outward appearance that they were deserving people. According to a
tradition miskin is one who cannot make ends meet, though his appearance does
not show that he needs help nor does he beg for help. In short, he is a self-
respecting person who has become needy.

6. Types of Hajj
There are three types of Hajj:
i. Hajj-e- Ifrad: The person who performs Hajj-e-Ifrad is called a Mufrid.
Before passing through Miqaat (the place for assuming Ihraam) one will
enter in the state of Ihraam and with the Niyyah of performing Hajj
alone. A Mufrid does not combine Umrah with their Hajj. Hajj-e-Ifrad is
the only kind of Hajj allowed for the residents of Makkah and the Hills
(those who reside between Miqaat and the precincts of Haram) for
example Jeddah.
ii. Hajj-e-Qiran: Literally Qiran means to combine two things. A pilgrim who
performs this kind of Hajj combines Hajj and Umrah. After
performing Umrah a Qarin (person who is performing Hajj-e-Qiran) will
perform Hajj with that same Ihraam.
iii. Hajj-e-Tamattu: Tamattu literally means to enjoy or take advantage of a
facility. A pilgrim who performs Hajj-e-Tamattu combines both Umrah and
Hajj. The difference between Hajj-e-Qiran and Hajj-e-Tamattu is that
after performing Umrah the Mutamatti (person who performs Hajj-e-
Tamattu) relinquishes his/her Ihraam and on the 8th of Dul Hijjah he/she
resumes that Ihraam.

the throat but they still have to wash the mouth. If they are not fasting
then they must gargle.
2) To clean the inside of the nose so that all the hair inside the nostrils
becomes wet. Suck up the water from your right hand and use the index
finger and thumb of the left to clean the nostrils ensuring any dried mucus
is cleaned out up to the bone of the nose.
3) Wash all of the body ensuring that not a single hair or hair-point remains
dry. Making sure that all hair on the head is washed and that any area which
is usually covered is washed, such as skin under the earrings, nose studs,
rings etc. If a single hair of the body remains dry, then the bathing will
not count.

readily available or if one is afraid of getting in mortal danger if the available
water is used.
13. Obligations of Tayammum.
1) First, one must intend to purify oneself from janabat (major ritual
impurity) or from the state of being without wudu'.
2) The two palms should be rubbed on clean soil, stone, or on a wall plastered
with soil or lime. Then one must make masah (wiping) on one's face with
both palms once
3) After putting both hands on the soil for a second time and hitting the
hands together so as to shake the excessive dust and soil off, one must
wipe both his arms including elbows.
14. Fasting Literal and Shara’i Meaning.
Fasting is a unique moral and spiritual characteristic of Islam. Literally defined,
fasting means ‘’to abstain’’.
Shara’i meaning of fasting is to abstain from foods, drinks, intimate intercourse
and smoking, before the break of the dawn till sunset.
15. Explain Human Rights.
Although an Islamic state may be set up in any part of the earth, Islam does not
seek to restrict human rights or privileges to the geographical limits of its own
state. Islam has laid down some universal fundamental rights for humanity as a
whole, which are to be observed and respected under all circumstances whether
such a person is resident within the territory of the Islamic state or outside it,
whether he is at peace or at war. The Holy Quran from the English translation of
the "Kanzul Iman" very clearly states:
"O believers, stand up firmly by the Commandments of Allah, bearing witness
with justice and let not the enmity of any people incite you that you should
not do justice. Do justice that is nearer to piety and fear Allah,
undoubtedly, Allah is aware of your doings." (5:8)
Human blood is sacred in any case and cannot be spilled without justification. And
if anyone violates this sanctity of human blood by killing a soul without
justification, the Holy Quran from the English translation of the "Kanzul Iman"
equates it to the killing of entire mankind.
"...whosoever killed a soul not to retaliate for a soul, nor for creating
disorder in the land, then it is as if he had killed all mankind. And whoso
gave life to one soul, then it is as if he had given life to all
mankind..."(5:32)
Islam has laid down laws for the following:
Right to Life and Property
Protection of Honour
Sanctity and Security of Private life
Security of Personal Freedom
Freedom of Expression (until it comes in conflict with other people’s
Honour)
Right To religion
And many more…
16. What Is Qisas and Diyyat.
Qisas is a form of retaliation where the person is caused similar hurt as he had
caused to another. Definition. Literally, means equal or balance. Legally it means
infliction of similar hurt at same part of body of convict as he has caused to victim
or causing of convict's death in case of QATL-E-AMD.
Diyya in Islamic law, is the financial compensation paid to the victim or heirs of a
victim in the cases of QATL-E-SHUBHE AMAD, bodily harm or property damage. It
must not be more than the price of 100 Camels.
17. Explain The Law of Qazaf.
Qažaf means to wrongfully accuse a chaste Muslim man or chaste Muslim woman
of adultery or homosexuality.
“Surely those who accuse chaste believing women, unaware (of the evils), are
cursed in the world and the hereafter and they shall have a grievous
chastisement. On the day when their tongue and their hands and their feet shall
bear witness against them as to what they did.”
(Surah an-Nūr 24:23-24)
The punishment for Qazaf is:
“And those who accuse free women then do not bring four witnesses, flog them,
(giving eighty lashes), and do not admit any evidence from them ever, and these
it is that are the transgressors.”
(Surah an-Nūr 24:4)
18. Explain The Law of Sariqa.
The hadd punishment for theft is the amputation of a hand. To be guilty of theft,
one must be a competent adult and have the mental intention to steal. The act
must consist of the removal by stealth of a certain kind of item of a minimum
value that is owned by another person.
The item taken must be in a place of safekeeping (hirz), such as a private
residence, or a storehouse where goods are kept under guard.
Unless the value of stolen goods meets or exceeds a certain value,
the hadd penalty may not be applied.
19. Define Comparison of Western and Islamic Banking System.
The western Banking system is based on usury (interest). And according to Islam,
any loan on which profit is taken is Riba/Interest, therefore Haraam.
The Islamic banking is based on profit sharing (Muzaribat) and rent sharing
(Ijara).
Muzarbat is defined as a contract between two individuals - a capitalist and his
agent. The former invests his money and the agent his skill, and the profit is
shared between them according to the terms as agreed upon. In case a loss is
incurred it is to be borne by the capitalist or the individual who invests.
In Ijara, the bank buys an asset or property, and then sells fixed amount of shares
to its customer after a predefined duration. Since during the time the customer
does not fully own the asset or property, and is still using it, he also has to pay
rent for the shares that are owned by the bank. As the customer buys more
shares, the rent will keep decreasing and when the customer has bought all of the
shares, he will be the sole owner of the said asset or property.
20. Types of Killing.
There are three types of Murder:
i. Qatl-i-Amd: When a person intends to cause death or bodily injury to
another person, does an act, which in ordinary course of nature is likely to
cause death or which is done with knowledge that his act is so imminently
dangerous that it must in all probability cause death, and causes death of
such person, he/she commits qatl-i-amd.
The Punishment is Qisas + Kafara
ii. Qatl Shibh-i-Amd: When a person intends to cause harm to body or mind
of any person, and causes death of that person or death of any other
person by means of a weapon or an act which in ordinary course of nature
is not likely to cause death, he/she commits qatl-shibh-i-amd.
The punishment is Diyat + Kafara
iii. Qatl-i-Khata: When a person does not intend to cause death of a person or
cause harm to a person, and causes death of such person either by mistake
of act or by mistake of fact, he/she commits qatl-i-Khata.
Punishment is Kafara.
Misc.
1. If someone kill another intentionally but without killing tool called Qatl Shibh-i-Amd.
2. Hand Amputation is punishment of THIEF.
3. IHRAM is obligatory in Umarah and Hajj worship.
4. The punishment of accuser (false) is 80 Lashes and are not admitted as a witness
5. The zakat of GOLD is 2.5% of its Value
