Management is the process of planning, organizing directing, and controlling the use of
company's resources to attain its objectives effectively and economically. A person who
performs the unique work of management is called a manager. A manager does his work by
working with and through other people.
Small business have usually one or more managers who are responsible for the various
management duties needed to keep the business running. managers in large companies are
ranked according to their level within the company. The managerial hierarchy of an organization
is called management pyramid. management usually perform four key functions for their
business:
1. planning
2. organizing and staffing
3. directing and coordinating, and
4. controlling and evaluating. Each of these functions are continuos and are interrelated toward a
management goal as shown in figure.
Planning is the process of making decisions about what will be done in the future and
how it will be done. managers must decide what their oragnization will do, where and when it
will be done , how it will be done , and who will do it. organizing is the process of setting up the
structure and rules to control the way resources - workes, material, machinery, and money - work
together to reach management objectives. Organizing determines who will do what job, what
methods and eqipment will be used and other specific rules to determine how the work will be
done.
Perencanaan adalah proses pengambilan keputusan tentang apa yang akan dilakukan
di masa depan dan bagaimana hal itu akan dilakukan. manajer harus memutuskan apa yang akan
dilakukan organisasi mereka, di mana dan kapan itu akan dilakukan, bagaimana itu akan
dilakukan, dan siapa yang akan melakukannya. pengorganisasian adalah proses menyiapkan
struktur dan aturan untuk mengontrol cara sumber daya - pekerjaan, material, mesin, dan uang -
bekerja sama untuk mencapai tujuan manajemen. Pengorganisasian menentukan siapa yang akan
melakukan pekerjaan apa, metode dan peralatan apa yang akan digunakan dan aturan khusus
lainnya untuk menentukan bagaimana pekerjaan tersebut akan dilakukan.
