Canisius: Summa Doctrinae Christianae

"Faith does not stare at the course of nature {for directions}, it does not trust the
perception based on sensation and does not rely on human might or reason; instead faith
is based on the might and reputation of God and takes it for absolutely certain that the
supreme and eternal truth, which is God himself neither ever deceives nor ever can be
deceived.
Therefore it is a prime feature of faith that it captures human reason(ing) and subdues it
under the rule of Jesus Christ under which nothing is difficult or even impossible to
achieve. This kind of faith is the light of the soul, the door of life and the foundation of
eternal salvation."
