For lab 6 we were asked to look at 20 male and 20 female faces to investigate and

see if symmetry plays a role in how we perceived what looks good or attractive to us. We

were provided a link that generated over 100 faces for us to look through and find the

average for each of them. This average will determine how attractive these faces are to

us.

This assignment seemed to be missing in the diversity category, as I felt that everyone

started to look the same for the most part. One thing that is noticeable from the images

above is that the average from both female and males is the averageness hypothesis is

true. When combing all 20 of the faces for each sex you are able to see more symmetrical

compared to one individual. Even when I conducted this with the top three most

attractive females and males, it wasn’t far from the images above, but a noticeable

difference to the individual photos and average. My scoring was clearly going to be bias,

as I find females to be attractive, thus the reason why they have a higher score from the

male 20 individuals.
