“The reason for this book to be written and to be read by the readers is because this is a true

adventure of mine that I wanted to share to the world.” (Ummi, 2020)

It all started with a ‘Hey!’ on a dating application that youngsters nowadays are very common
with, Tinder. People across the globe can use this to find new friends, people with the same interest
and also new love. Broken hearted people usually use this platform to find new people, to know their
personality first rather than the looks but not her. She was there because of a friend of hers forced
her to download it and she said it would be fun having a double date as her friend already found
someone through the apps. “Study, study and study. Is that all you can do during our glory age? Have
some fun, Dahlia. We’re not going to be 20 forever! Meet some guys, go out and have fun!”. That
was the 54th time she said that. Dahlia was not that kind of girl to meet people online and fall in love
without seeing them first. “I will have fun. Once we got our degrees in our hand. Okay, Ella?.” As
usual Ella would roll her eyes and Dahlia could hear she sighed. RafaElla was her best friend since
she was in high school. Ella, to be honest, was really popular in school as she was the singer that
represented our school in the national level and even won third place in the championship. She
needed help with Maths and Science so that was the reason they became best friends. The friendship
lasted long as they both got into the same university and that was the moment when Ella felt so free,
trying out new things, meet new people unlike Dahlia who was still a nerd worrying for the upcoming
exams which was like 5 months ahead.

“Hey Dal, I’m going out for awhile with Brad. Wanna come?”, Ella asked. “No thanks. I rather
watched an entire series of Netflix than going out as a third wheeler and as a cameraman”. Ella broke
the silent room with her laugh. Well that was true. Dahlia once went out as a third wheeler and they
kept on asking her to take pictures of them together, she thanked God when they finally bought
themselves a selfie stick. It was weekend, Ella went out on a date with Brad while Dahlia was actually
watching Netflix after finishing up her assignments. After few episodes she felt bored and started to
scroll her phone. She scrolled her Instagram and saw that Ella was having so much fun with her new
date. Surprisingly, they went to an art museum for a date? “Are you kidding me? Ella? Museum?” she
giggled. For the first time, Dahlia was actually interested on her first date. They went for ice cream
and even walk through a flower park holding hands and for the first time again, she felt something.
Dahlia was smiling seeing lovebirds on social media. Ella never had this kind of date before. “This one
looks so fun and decent”, Dahlia thought to herself. After a few moments of thinking, she finally
remembered the apps Ella told her to install to find new friends or a partner. So, she never thought
that this day would actually happen as she was clicking the install button on the ‘Tinder’ applications.
She registered using her ‘Facebook’ account as it was easier to remember and she was on ‘Tinder’.
“Swipe right for yes, swipe left for no? That simple?”. She swiped right when the bio of the person
was interested enough for her. “Whoa. 2 matches? That quick?” , she was still amused with the apps.
As she was swiping right and left, suddenly, a guy texted him through the apps saying “Hey!”. Dahlia
was so nervous that she had to drink a glass of water before replying his text. “Hey?” she answered
with her obvious anxiety. “I’m Adam. What’s your name?”. Before she replied, she stalked his profile
again to make sure his bio really caught her interest and it still was. He wrote on his bio that he
studied in one of the University in the country and he was currently studying in Marine Electrical and
Electronic Engineer. She was amused with that so she wanted to make a joke, which she thought it
was. “I’m Eve. Like Adam and Eve.” That was the most cringe text she had ever typed in her whole
life. “I’m done with myself. Why do I have to sound so desperate”, she thought. Adam did not reply
the messages so Dahlia was so embarrassed of herself and make a cup of coffee while listening to
one of Metallica’s playlist. Sha had always been the band’s number one fan as she fell in love with
the song called ‘Nothing Else Matters’. As she was listening, a notification popped up on her screen.
“Hi Eve. Nice to meet you, virtually. Hahaha. Sorry for the late reply, this app sometimes crash and I
don’t know why. Wanna change number? It would be easier to chat”, Adam asked. “Yes, sure”. After
giving her number to him, he texted her through iMessage. “Hey Eve. Its me, Adam. Your soulmate?
Hahaha”. Dahlia was super shook. “He actually used the cringe joke against me? Okay so that means
I didn’t look that desperate”. Dahlia was always that kind of girl that would overthink as much as she
can because of her insecurities. “Lol. I’m Dahlia by the way. I was just making up the name to match
with yours” she replied. So they talked all night and fell asleep knowing that she maybe had fallen
inlove with the right guy.
