Thanksgiving by someone

A gift is a thing given willingly to someone without the expectation of payment or return. It is
given voluntarily as to show favor toward someone, honor an occasion, or make a gesture of
assistance. A gift is also something bestowed or acquired without any particular effort by the
recipient or without its being earned. Although gift-giving might involve an expectation of
reciprocity, a gift is meant to be free.

Since the time of creation, God is a giver. He has given order to a formless and
shapeless earth, He has given existence to everything in the world, and He gave breath to man
so that he became a living being. Throughout the whole story of salvation God continuous to
give to man whatever he needs, He gave him an identity by forming a family which later on
became a nation which was specially His own. He gave His people the Law and the Covenant
in order to guide them in living fully for Him. When the people forgot about their identity as
His people, God gave them prophets to remind them and bring them back to the covenant. In
the fullness of time, God spoke to His people by sending His Son “whom He made heir of all
things and through whom He created the universe”. Through His Son, God saved His people
from sin and death and offered eternal life so that in the end, His people will also share in His
divine life. God continues to sanctify His people by calling and appointing persons to be
partakers of His mission. I, Fr. Keith Amodia, and Fr. Keith Belcina were called in faith by
the Lord to be as Salesians dedicating our life for Him in the poor and abandoned young
people. And then to the priesthood to live out our lives ‘in persona Christi capitis’ (in the
person of Christ the Head).

Today’s celebration is a manifestation that God continues to love His people, His
Church, the Salesian Congregation for He appointed us, unworthy as we are to this vocation
and mission.

>>because of our Scriptural inspiration in this ordination: “yet I live, no longer I, but Christ
lives in me.” (Gal 2:20)
This is our inspiration. This is our prayer. This is also our request for prayer from you, People
of God, that we will truly become signs and bearers of God’s love in our world today and for
everyone. Remind us when we seem lost in our way. Assist us especially when we will be
facing difficulties and struggles. Pray for us always as we all vow to pray for you.

Many people would say, “You have now reached your dream/ambition.” Yet we believe, yes
we have also dreamed about this life but this not the end. Maybe we have reached it but this
is just the beginning of a life-long task of becoming saints. All of us are called to be with the
Lord, to be holy, to be saints. For our beloved young people, this is also an encouragement
and an invitation that the Lord calls you for greater things. Listen to His call. Be open to His
gift and discover it in your life. We, your Salesians, are committed and we vowed to journey
with you.
