AIR POLLUTION IN THE WORLD

As we know, air pollution is a serious problem that affects the world that will
eventually claim millions of lives, due to an inadequate management of natural
resources we are solely responsible for this pollution and if we do not do something
to raise awareness, it could trigger adverse effects. A factor that influences a lot is
the flights produce greenhouse gases, mainly carbon dioxide (CO2), when fuel is
burned this causes global warming. The World Health Organization (WHO) report
that nine out of ten people are now breathing polluted air, which kills 7 million
people every year, these people die from diseases such as: lung cancer, lung
diseases and respiratory infections, including pneumonia; these diseases are seen
in people in developing countries. For this reason, I chose this topic, because air is
an essential element, and to create environmental conscience in people.

In 2012, the World Health Organization (WHO) reported that 3.5 million people die
prematurely each year due to indoor pollution and another 3.3 million due to
outdoor pollution. Toxic particulate matter shortens thousands of lives by causing
diseases such as pneumonia and cancer.  Xavier Querol, an expert in air pollution
said that carbon dioxide is the major pollutant that affects global warming, the poor
are often exposed to more air pollution because of the neighborhoods they live in,
he added. Juan Barcena indicated that if a situation like this forces us to reduce
traffic this would be an improvement to air quality, and an improvement to health.
And finally, the United Nations Environment Program, highlighted that air pollution
is not only a serious threat to people, but also for ecosystems and plants. It also
affirmed that the COVID-19 confinements showed us that it is possible to have
cleaner skies. Thanks to the opinions and studies made by experts, we can see
more in depth the serious problem that is being generated in the world, thanks to
the bad care of the environment.
To reduce environmental pollution, we can change our habits little by little, thinking
about the planet and our future. We can use public transport and reduce the use of
private vehicles, we can also walk or of bicycle use for short distances, we must
take care of green areas and contribution that we can. We can avoid items
containing toxic products and find for ecological alternatives. Moreover, some
airlines have been to contribute to the global fight against climate change and are
willing to invest in green projects that absorb carbon dioxide by planting forests, to
offset their emissions. Most actions are linked to the way we live and of habits we
have acquired.
