Rules for Web-site Designing Competition

Web Site should be designed on given theme; It should be judged on the basis of
following criteria.

Sites are evaluated for:

Section 1: Content Section 2: Aesthetics


o Relevance of content o Visual appeal and style
o Accuracy of content o Consistent look and feel
o Correct spelling and grammar o Readability
o Good use of content chunking o Minimalist design
o Adherence to copyright laws
Section 3: Design Section 4: Usability and Accessibility
o Adherence to HTML standards o Written in user’s language
o Effective navigation and working links o Minimize user’s memory load
o Effective use of multimedia content o Minimize required user actions
o Browser compatibility o Progressive exposition of levels of details
o Navigation feedback mechanism
o Effective user guidance
o Accessible for visually impaired users

Cheating:
The emphasis of the competition is to create an original website. Therefore, any team found
to be cheating, interfering with another team, or interfering with the competition in any form,
will be punished with severe point deduction or be immediately disqualified from the
competition.

Prohibited Content:
Each website must not contain material deemed objectionable to UTAR (e.g. no
pornography, no profanity, nothing offensive to a person’s gender, ethnicity, or religious
beliefs, no references to alcohol, tobacco, or drugs).

Content Attributions:
Entries must adhere to copyright laws. Therefore, all graphics and multimedia components
used in the competition must have been granted permission before using the file.

Permission to Publish

By entering this competition you are giving RNBG University permission to publish your
work on its website and in all forms of promotional material, electronic, print or other. You
maintain copyright ownership to your website and are responsible for its content.

Consent

Participants must sign the official competition entry form. In doing so, student(s), and
teacher state that:
To the best of their knowledge, all design and production of the website was done by
student(s).
Any material not created by student (text, graphics, music, etc.) is used with permission of
its creator(s) and properly credited to them
They agree that the student's name and school may be used in publicity about the
competition.
They agree to be bound by rules of this competition, including all decisions by judges,
competition organizers, and all federal, state and local laws.
