La TEORIA DE LA RELEVANCIA’
RESUMEN: Este articulo ofrece una visién sin-
tetizada de la teoria de la relevancia. Comienza
defendiendo el carécter fundamental de esta
propiedad mental a la hora de explicae el cono-
cimiento y la comunicacién humana. La expo-
sicidn se lleva a cabo en didlogo constante con
otras teorias sobre la relacién entte seméntica y
contexto, especialmente con Grice y la cortiente
Pragmitica neo-griceana, Finalmente, los au-
tores sitdan su visién sobre el significado en el
marco de una teoria modular de la mente. El tra-
bajo se ve completado con una bibliografiatica y
actualizada sobre todas estas cuestiones,

ABSTRACT: Deirdre Wilson and Dan Sperber
offer a brief account of the Relevance Theory.
Relevance is considered to be a basic property of
the human mind in ordet to explain knowledge
and communication. The analysis of a wide ran-
g¢ of topics regarding the relationship between
Semantics and Pragmatics is made by discussing
the Gricean and neo-gricean points of view.
Moreover, the authors uphold the possibility to
place the relevance within the frame of a modu-
lar theory of mind. A substantial and updated
bibliography on these matters is also provided,
