By: Mosleah Lumanggal The United Youth for Peace and Development (UNYPAD) General Santos City (Gensan) and City Mayor’s Office- Indigenous Cultural Community Affairs Division (CMO-ICCAD) conducted a Basic News Writing Workshop at Raadz Place, Lagao, General Santos City on March 28, 2021 participated by 28 Muslim youth leaders.
Sahani Ansa, Chairman of UNYPAD - Gensan said, “News writing is important. As a
peace advocates, we need to have a skill on how we promote our advocacies.” He added, “We have the opportunity to be developed. It is our choice what socialization we will focus. “Every one of us enhance their skills in terms on how to write a news. As a peace advocate, it is important to know the basic news writing so that in the near future we can published peace news,” Sofia Alimudin, one of the members of UNYPAD – Gensan Chapter said. Albasher Mina, one of the members of UNYPAD – Gensan said, “We were given a privilege to attend this workshop to learn about how to write news in a proper way. As we all know, news writing is a key skill for journalists.” He added, “Everyone can learn to do this. It takes time, willingness and passion.” UNYPAD was born to help alleviate the plight of its people in Mindanao especially in those marginalized sectors in the society. The organization focuses on empowering the youth to become productive citizens of the country.
