Women’s day speech

Today 8th march 2011 we all have gathered here to celebrate the 100 th year of Women's Day. It is a day
to commemorate women's struggle for change, to celebrate the progress, which has been made
towards improvement of quality of life of women. It is the day for reaffirming our commitment to the
work towards the liberation of women.

a woman’s essence lies in her ability to care, love , sacrifice for the other and selfless service to others.
The best example is mother Teresa. Who served the poor and the needy. Women plays an important
character of a mother, daughter, wife and sister as a friend, nurturer, guide and partner from time to
time. Emotional and vulnerable, sometimes erratic, sometimes serene, she displays a wonderful range
of emotions from being patient to being extremely courageous in times of crisis. Eg: rani lakshmi bai
who fought courageously against the britishers for her country.

presently we can see a women president prathibha patil who is handling our country efficiently.

There is famous saying that behind the success of every man there is a women. When women shows
love care and sacrifice then only a men can achieve his aim in life.

When we take it in different forms, we found tat there is a culture of our own describes not only
the reality, but the hope as well. So as we move toward this 21st century, let us acknowledge that
women cannot touch the sky if they are not given the proper education they deserve to have and
denied the right to go to school. They cannot touch the sky if they don't have access to the credit,
the loans, and the jobs they need to lift themselves and their families out of poverty. they are
victims of abuse in their own homes, or kidnapped and become objects of war or sold into
marriage, slavery or other disastrous life circumstances. Women cannot reach the heights if
denied the freedom to plan their own families, if they are denied their basic legal rights. Women
can only TOUCH the sky -- as this wonderful, wonderful sculptress suggests to us -- if their feet
are planted firmly on the soil of freedom and equal justice.

My hope is that into the next century we will not only continue to see progress, but
advancements in every part of the world. We will see a world in which all citizens -- men and
women -- enjoy the freedoms of liberty; in which all children are valued and given equal
opportunities whether they are boys or girls; and in which every citizen can live in dignity, free
from fear, and filled with hope.

would like to end this talk with a quote from an anonymous source that I came across on the
internet. I find it comforting – and I hope that you too will be inspired by it. “Blessed are the
women, who have grown beyond their greed, and put an end to their hatred. They delight in the
beauty of the way things are, and keep their hearts open, day and night. They are like beautiful
trees planted on the banks of flowing rivers, which bear fruit when they are ready. Their leaves
will not fall or wither, and everything they do will succeed”
