WAS or WERE

Hello dear students. Do you know how to ask questions using the verb to
be in past?

To form yes/ no questions, we have to change the position of the verb.

Take a look of the examples:

He was in a hurry yesterday. They were at home last night.

Was he in a hurry yesterday? Were they at home lalst night?

How do we answer?

Was he in a hurry yesterday?

Yes, he was.
No, he wasn’t.

Were they at home last night?

Yes, they were.

No, they weren’t.
We also have Wh questions with the verb to be in past.

For example

Where was your mom last night?

She was at work.

When were they in class?

They were in class yesterday.

What time was the meeting?

It was at 6.30.
