Meet the Teacher

5th Grade 2020-2021

Hello!
I am going to be one of your child’s teachers for the
this school year! My name is Mrs. Sotelo! I am
looking forward to getting to know your student and
helping them grow and succeed during this year with
me. I am in the University of Hawaii-West Oahu
Elementary Education program and am currently in
my Student Teaching semester. I am originally from
Northern California and have been living here in
Hawai’i for the past three years. I live at home with Contact:
my husband, Miguel, and our dog, Melli. In my free sotelof21@solomonele
time I am usually out taking my dog for a walk, or at mentary.k12.hi.us
home knitting or crocheting. I have always known
that I have wanted to be a teacher and I couldn’t Message me on Class
imagine doing anything else. Dojo!

Learning Goals
Getting to know the students in our classroom this year, I have noticed that there are
some learning challenges. Mrs. Rhoten and I have determined a learning goal for
the remainder of the school year for students to become fluent in their
multiplication facts and be able to add and subtract fractions with unlike
denominators. We will work towards this goal by practicing with students with
multiplication flashcards and working on determining least common multiples. If
you have any free time with your child to practice their multiplication facts, this
would be greatly appreciated and helpful to your student. Please reach out if you
have any further questions about how to further benefit your student.
