Introduction
With seeing a light at the end of the dark tunnel known as Covid-19, planning a moral-
building conference should be the next step the company takes in preparing our higher
management team to coming back to the workplace. Covid-19 has changed policy and
procedures in almost every way which could lower the moral among all the staff. This could
make them feel anxious or insecure because some people don’t handle change well. Having the
moral building conference in a major city can help our higher management team bond together.
It can also build incredible relationships by seeing the different tourist spots and feeling
inspirited after being in the lockdown for so long. The major cities we have picked are:
This report will go into detail of 3 cities that could hold our moral-building conference. It will
include:
We will plan for this moral-building to happen on September 16th-20th, 2021 for the 8
members of the higher management teams. This will give us time to plan the conference out
thoroughly. The prices will vary due to exchange rates and other variables. After the information
is all gathered, we will compare the cities to each other. Each city above has pros and cons to
holding the moral-building conference. As a group Sharla Riddell, Brandy Simon, and Kyla
Apilado will weight out all the options that are stated in this report. In the end they will make
the recommendation for which where they think the best location is to hold the moral-building
conference.
Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
The first option we have for potential places to hold our company’s moral-building
conference is in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Brazil is a beautiful place that is filled with inspiration
that fill our team with motivation. The hotel chosen that would be perfect for our company is
JW Marriott Hotel Rio de Janeiro. It is a 30 min drive from the airport, it has enough space to
hold the conference, and rated 4.3 stars out of 5. Below is a small table from the hotel website
showing why the hotel is perfect place to hold the conference (besides the convenience of it
being at the same location of where we are staying)
If we book through Expedia (the prices and flight times will change due to availability for
when we book it) will be roughly $1200/person[CITATION Tri \l 4105 ]. This covers the cost of
airfare (roundtrip) and hotel amenities while in Brazil. The team will fly in basic economy, and
the hotel rooms have 2 twin beds bedroom with free breakfast for 4 nights[CITATION Tri \l 4105 ].
While looking at all the flight options, there was no options to have a direct flight. The
connecting flight will always be in Miami, Florida. On the way there we would be waiting in the
airport because there is only 1 hour and 35 min layaway[CITATION Tri \l 4105 ]. On the way home
though, we would have to get another hotel at the airport because the layaway is almost 9 hours
long and we land in Miami at 4:50AM. We would take off again at 1:49PM and arrive in
Toronto at 5:04PM[CITATION Tri \l 4105 ]. Staying at the Miami International Airport Hotel would
be around $125 for the night [ CITATION Mia21 \l 4105 ]. This includes a 2 queen size beds and the
location is convenient (especially for the time at 4:50AM) [ CITATION Mia21 \l 4105 ].
The part of the trip the employees will look forward to the most will be the sight seeing/
tourist spots around Brazil. This is important for the team because they can be considered as
breaks from the conference workshops. Imagine going to Brazil for a moral-building conference
and never leave the hotel. It could give the wrong message to the high management team, which
is not uplifting and getting our team excited about going back into the workplace after the Covid-
19 Pandemic. One of the first things we would do as group is visit the Cristo Redentor.
According to Google Maps Cristo Redentor is less than a 25-minute drive our hotel. To add to
the convenience there are restaurants close by so we can have lunch there as a group as well
[ CITATION Sar17 \l 4105 ]. The Cristo Redentor is one of the most recognized landmarks in Rio de
Janeiro[ CITATION Bar \l 4105 ]. It is also a great spot for sight seeing because not only will the
team be inspired after seeing the statue but also of the view of over-seeing the city.
In means of transportation, we will expect employees to find their own way to Toronto
Pearson Airport and home after we land back in Toronto. Once in Brazil though, employees will
not have to worry about means of travel. Once in Brazil though we will have 2 cars rented out
for the higher management team. We are doing this to for the convenience of letting the group
be able to go out for dinners anywhere around the city and to see the tourist spots when they are
able to. The average price for one car that is rented out at Car Rental Rio De Janeiro Airport
with unlimited miles, the insurance, and GPS comes to almost $120 for the 3 days[ CITATION
Rev21 \l 4105 ].
Venice, Italy
The second option that we have is Venice, Italy. Venice is a beautiful place full of great
attractions, food, and would be a great place to hold our company’s moral building conference.
The hotel that I chose is Leonardo Royal Hotel Venice Mestre. It is also about a 13 minute drive
from the airport. The hotel is rated 4.5 stars and the hotel also holds a conference room. Below is
what the conference room has with technology what the conference room has with
technology and equipment.
We will use Expedia to book our flights. The fare for one person is $597 roundtrip from Toronto
Pearson Airport to Venice, Italy. The team will fly in basic economy. I will be booking 4 rooms
for 2 people in one room. In the room will have a double bed, shower, air- conditioning- heating,
minibar, free-Wi-Fi and many more. (Leonardo Hotels, 2021). Since we are staying there for 4
nights it will cost $821.63 including a breakfast buffet. However, it is not refundable according
to the hotel, if you would like to cancel it would cost another $100.
The sightseeing opportunities. Just a heads up some of these sightseeing’s we might have to pay
extra for entrance fee, tickets, transits, and food. All the attractions that I will be mentioning are
all close together. They are only a few
minutes away from each other. We could
travel by foot. The first city we should
visit is the Grand Canals known for as
the “City of Canals,” “The Floating
City,” and “Serenissima,”.
(WorldStrides, 2020). There are many
amazing sightseeing places in Venice,
Italy. As a team we should visit at least a
few places during our time there to take
pictures, get our minds off work and to
just have an amazing time. One of the places we should visit is the Grand Canal. It is about a 12
minute drive from our hotel. The Grand Canal is one of the top attractions in Venice and in this
place, you can tour the Grand Canal by boat to really see a great view the city.
Taking advantage of the free Airport services makes our transportation a lot easier and saves
us money in the process. The hotel is breathtaking from its elegant bedrooms to its amazing
entertainment space which would be the rooftop patio. Sitting in Rome underneath the stars
sipping wine with some colleagues and unwinding after a long meeting on a rooftop patio could
not possibly get any better than this. The hotel is rated 4.7/5 and also includes a conference hall
which is an extra fee of $100 but I think utilizing this instead of trying to find another place
would be best as we would not need any transportation to a different conference hall, and it
would be in the comfort of our own hotel.
We will be using Air Canada to fly to and from Constantinople as it is the fastest and cheapest
route for everyone attending. Round trips are $830 per person. We will depart from Toronto
Person Airport at 8:55pm and there will be no stops along the way. We will arrival at Leonardo
da Vinci–Fiumicino Airport at 11:05am the next day which would make the total flight 8hours
and 10minutes. From there we will use the free airport pickup services our hotel offers. To return
home we will be catching a flight from Leonardo da Vinci–Fiumicino Airport 1:40pm and would
make one stop in Montreal for 1hour and 10minutes and then we would continue on to Toronto
Person Airport at which we would arrive at 6:40pm the next day making the total flight 11hours.
(Air Canada)
At the Monti Palace Hotel the rooms will be split between two people with two single beds
per room. The cost of one room is $127 so a total of four rooms will be $508.00 before taxes
and $574.04 after taxes. The rooms include access to all the amenities and also to free daily
breakfast for each person. (Hotel Expenses 2021)
Constantinople has some of the most
breathtaking views such as the colosseum.
“During the Roman Empire and under the motto
of "Bread and Circuses" the Roman Colosseum
(known then as Flavian Amphitheatre)
allowed more than 50,000 people to enjoy its
finest spectacles. The exhibitions of exotic
animals, executions of prisoners, recreations of
battles and gladiator fights kept the Roman
people entertained for years. The Colosseum
remained active for over 500 years. The last
recorded games in history were celebrated in the
6th century. Since the 6th century the
Colosseum has suffered lootings, earthquakes and even bombings during World War Two. Demonstrating
a great survival instinct, the Colosseum was used for decades as a storehouse, church, cemetery and even
a castle for nobility.” (Civitatis Rome-colosseum) The Colosseum is a 5-minute walk from our hotel and a
sight you just cannot miss out on.
