1. Flood your classroom with samples of diversity.

2. Look at the books you put in your library about lots of people and

note the gender, race, ability, interests, and cultural aspects of

each book.

3. Include posts and posters on your walls that promote acceptance.

4. Purposely include all ethnicities, all ages, all people sizes, all types

of occupations, and activities, people with obvious disabilities, and

family dynamics.

5. LOOK carefully for stereotyping!

6. Plan a lesson to debunk stereotypes.

7. Stress the importance of differences.

8. Stress how we are more alike then different.

9. Teach social skills that include acceptance and kindness.

10. Celebrate differences.

11. Use individual’s talents, careful not to leave anyone out.
